Book Lovers
Join the Book Lovers group on Zoom on Wednesday, October 21 at 1:00 PM to discuss the entertaining and thoughtful memoir: Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood, by Trevor Noah
Trevor Noah's unlikely path from apartheid South Africa to the desk of The Daily Show began with a criminal act punishable by five years in prison: his birth from a black mother and white father.  A moving and searingly funny portrait of a boy making his way through a damaged world in a dangerous time, armed only with a keen sense of humor and a mother's unconventional, unconditional love.

GOOD NEWS!!
Yes, there is some good news in the world and Saint Mark would like to hear about it.  The Connections Ministry would love to hear your good news so we can share it with the rest of the Saint Mark community through our NEW Saint Mark Good News Gazette.  We are not trying to be Pollyannas saying only good news counts, but we are saying that we are missing some of the positive moments in your lives because we are not all physically gathered together.  Send your good news to Phyllis Norrie (phylnorrie@gmail.com) so we can include it in our Gazette.

Help with Meals on Wheels
We are looking for a team to do Meals on Wheels one day a month.  Any one who is interested please email
jegkingfield@yahoo.com

or call Joyce Kingfield at 301-822-4130.

Coming Soon:
Please look for a Legacy Campaign pledge statement in the regular mail, if you still owe a balance on your pledge. While you have until May 2021 to complete the pledge, I'm sending an update now in case you'd like to complete it before the end of the year. If you pledged, but are all paid up, you will not receive a statement to save postage and other resources. If your circumstances have changed and you need to change your pledge, please email Alison Bennett alison.bennett72@gmail.com.

Hearts with Haiti Update:
Broadway celebrates Haiti: Hearts with Haiti Fundraiser coming up on line Oct. 17,
7 pm.

Saint Mark has been a partner with Hearts with Haiti since the earthquake when Saint Mark members raised a great deal of funds for rebuilding. Church members have visited them in Haiti several times. In addition, we hosted members of the dance group and other Saint Joseph's Family members.

We look forward to Saturday, October 17th at 7 PM EST for a colorful virtual evening of young singers, dancers and drummers from SJF.  They will join Broadway and HWH to Celebrate Haiti and raise money for the support of Broadway's Babies arts program and SJF's services for the residents of Wings of Hope and the students of Lekol Sen Trinite (LST). Both have resumed their school programs.
