Sanctuary upgrade:
It has long been recognized that due to the lack of a sink apart (from the sink in the small bathroom), and more importantly, lack of hot water piping to the rear of the sanctuary the area behind the sanctuary needs an upgrade. This area is traditionally called a sacristy, where worship elements are kept including those for holy communion. For years our team of loyal volunteers who prepare the elements for communion have had to transport the elements and the fragile chalices and plates to and from the kitchen for washing when holy communion is served. The Worship and Music Ministry team requested a renovation of this area to install a new sink apart from the bathroom, with hot water piping, a refrigerator to store cold juice bottles, and a new preparation area with more storage.  The Session approved this request so that the sacristy can actually function as it was intended. In collaboration with Music and Worship, the Property Ministry has contracted with a local remodeling company to renovate this space, complete with the new sink, an "insta-hot" hot water heater, new cabinetry to include a prep area, and a small refrigerator.  The work will involve installing a new plumbing line from the sink to the existing plumbing in the bathroom with new plumbing, requiring trenching through some of the existing flooring in the bathroom, and drywall work related to the plumbing and electrical connections.  The work is expected to start the upcoming week of May 20th, and take 2 -3 weeks from start of demolition this week to final repainting of some surfaces.

Although there will be no disruptions in the sanctuary during this time, we will need to close off the area behind the wall and the bathroom during the time of the restoration. Please do not try to enter the back rooms of the Sanctuary through the left door during this time.  We will provide updates over the next weeks to let you know when the work is completed and all is back to normal.  Thanks to Scott Clark and his team for a great collaboration between our Ministry teams to make this happen!
