Girl mom book club: A note from Pastor Shelby
I just ordered the book called "Enough as She Is: How to Help Girls Move Beyond Impossible Standards of Success to Live Healthy, Happy, and Fulfilling Lives." The author, Rachel Simmons, has written several other good books that I have read over recent years and have taken on new meaning for me as a new mom to a girl!
I am going to read it this summer and was wondering if any of you wanted to join me? We could read it together over the summer and then have a few discussion nights in the fall. Let me know if you are interested, and if so, if you'd be willing to host at your home one evening in the fall. Please email me:

It's time to update the Saint Mark On-Line Directory
Have you moved? Had a baby? Gotten a new phone? Dropped your landline?  Or changed your data in any way? We have also noticed that kids have a way of growing up while we are busy with other things. Many family photos are so out of date, we can't recognize you any more! Please check the digital church directory here  or in the app available for phones.
Send your updates and recent photos to Diane Wirono at If you have not  had access before, also  email Diane, and she will set you up. It is a great tool.
Forms are available in the narthex and office.
Affordable housing in DC
Through our Theology and Race series we have connected with Metropolitan AME Church in the District. They have invited members of Saint Mark to join them in addressing affordable housing in DC.
On Saturday, July 20th from 12:30 to 3:30 pm, houses of worship across the city will meet at Metropolitan AMEC for community outreach in Ward 2. Through its partnership with the Washington Interfaith Network (WIN), we endeavor to build power in the community by connecting with people we encounter while walking in the streets and also going to specific homes.

We seek to address the affordable housing crisis, highlight injustice, and listen to the concerns of our neighbors. Bethesda

Want to volunteer for 2 hours a week?
Bethesda-Chevy Chase Meals on Wheels is looking for drivers. B-CC Meals on Wheels delivers meals 5 days a week on 6 routes in Montgomery County in west Silver Spring, Chevy Chase and Bethesda north to Falls Road area of Potomac. Each route generally involves 2 to 8 deliveries, and take about and hour.
