Events happening June 10 -14
Saint Mark's is honored to host the events below as part of Violins of Hope, presented by the Minnesota JCC.
Violins of Hope is a powerful collection of over 70 restored string instruments played byJewish musicians before and during the Holocaust. These extraordinary violins will be featured in local performances, exhibitions, and educational programs that honor the memory of the Holocaust. Together, the Violins of Hope share one message: Remember me. Remember us. Celebrate life for those who perished, for those who survived, and for all people.
Special Events
TODAY, June 10, Wednesday:
1:00 pm
Join us to hear Archer Brown perform using one of the Violins of Hope. He will be accompanied by Gloriana Wolf.
2:30 pm Following the performance, in the Art Gallery & Heritage Room.
The Holocaust was the systematic, state sponsored persecution and murder of six million Jews by the Nazi regime, its allies, and collaborators. Our Holocaust education presentation is delivered by Sylvia Fine and Elly Fine Sternberg, daughter and granddaughter of a Holocaust survivor. They share her experience surviving the Lodz Ghetto and Auschwitz, and her triumph as she begins to "live again." They will also present about Violins of Hope.
June 14, Sunday, 2:30 pm:
The Lux String Quartet will present a concert using four instruments from the Violins of Hope collection.
A selection of these instruments will be featured in our Art Gallery during the Cathedral's open hours and the following additional times:
Wednesday (6/10), Thursday (6/11), and Saturday (6/13): 12 - 3 pm
Sunday (6/14): 2 - 5 pm
