Survey for Return to In-Person Services
We are looking forward to returning to in-person services in addition to continuing a virtual worship experience. The Covid-19 Task Force has worked with Pastor Scott to put together THIS SIMPLE SURVEY to help in making decisions for how we want to proceed.

All answers may be anonymous unless you want to leave a comment with your contact information.

One survey response per household, please!

If you would prefer to answer these questions over the phone, please reply to this email to be contacted by your Deacon.

It will be open through Memorial Day

Special Pentecost Offerings Can Still Be Made
We celebrated May 23, 2021, Pentecost Sunday, with a special sermon by Pastor Scott and a great showing of red in the congregation. The Pentecost Special Offering benefits at-risk children and the youth of our church and the world.  It’s not too late to celebrate Pentecost Sunday with a Special Offering. The PCUSA link, https://specialofferings.pcusa.org/stories/ provides amazing and inspirational stories of how our Pentecost Offering is used to support our children and youth and the development of their faith.  With the Holy Spirit within you, please go to www.saintmarkpresby.org, “Give Now”, “Peace & Global Witness/Pentecost Offering”. This Special Offering is shared between PCUSA and Saint Mark.

Property Ministry Update
·      HVAC chiller:  Great news: the new 60-ton chiller component of our HVAC system for the Education building is now installed and working to cool the building!   Although ordered late Fall after scoping out best price for the work, due to some shipping delays it arrived at our contractor’s site May 7, installed on the the pad May 12th, and was fully operational last Friday, May 19th.  YEA!  We are getting a substantial rebate from Pepco on this chiller, as well!
·      The kitchen renovation project:   Progress on the kitchen remains at a snail’s pace. Since the mid-March update, we can report that there has been someprogress on replacing the old grease trap, a conundrum which has been holding up the whole project.  The most recentre- design for the required now very complex grease trap has been recently APPROVED by the WSSC (they are VERY picky!). THUS, the new components have been ordered, and we EXPECT to get the renovation going again by mid-June, again pending a new roadblock.  With the exception of a new utility sink now required which was recently ordered, all the appliances, cabinets, and sinks are in storage and ready to be installed.  So at this point we now project a functional kitchen by sometime in August.
·      Our grounds:  We have recently contracted with a new landscape service which uses pesticide-free, organic fertilizers, in keeping with Saint Mark designation as an “Earth Care Congregation”.   They have completed initial mowing and spring clean-up, with mulching and shrub pruning, for all the grounds including the Memorial Garden and Butterfly Garden; and, they provided a comprehensive schedule for the rest of the year, including irrigation service and overseeding. We are also looking at some new plantings and shrub transplants, as well as some tree maintenance items, for the remainder of the year.
