Principal's Message

"For my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples."–Isaiah 56:7

This Tuesday marked the Second Week of Lent. You may be hearing from your children how they are going to the church a couple of days a week now. As a school we are praying the Stations of the Cross every Wednesday until Holy Week. This is a Lenten tradition that is valuable for our students and builds our Faith community. As we move closer to Saint Patrick's Day we lean on our Fr. Jeff Kegley and Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M; regarding the question of a special dispensation for the holiday. I was glad to hear Bishop O’Connell has announced a dispensation for the Friday obligation to abstain from meat for for St. Patrick’s Day only, instead, he has asked us to fulfill the spirit of the obligation through other works or actions. At Saint Mary School, I urge you to consider adoring our eucharistic Lord at Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Shrine on the campus of Mary, Mother of God Church. You can sign up to be an adorer here: www.stmarychurchnj.org/adoration. Join Fr. Jeff this Sunday to learn more about what we can do through our works of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving during the season of Lent.

God bless,

Craig Palmer

Principal

FACULTY HIGHLIGHT

Mel O'Neal

Gym Teacher

Glassboro State College

Bachelor of Arts in Communications

Retiring after a 30-year career—10 years in government and 20 as executive director of the YMCA—I began teaching at Saint Mary School last September. Our students and families have a genuine interest in creating a healthy, vibrant community, and I’m very excited to contribute to the school’s youth-focused mission. The spiritual foundation here is an excellent cornerstone of success and culture. It’s a big reason why I chose to send all four of my children to Saint Mary.”
