For the last several months Saint Michael’s has been looking to establish a flower guild ministry. This is common in many English parishes and is more connected to the seasons of the year. If you have enjoyed the altar flowers on recent Sunday morning broadcasts, they have been the labor of Blair Hyde and Ann Hogueland Stephens who are developing this project. They are now inviting anyone who knows or wants to learn more about arranging flowers to consider this ministry.
Blair will offer a session on arranging flowers in an open-air area of her garden for virus safety. The time needed is approximately 90 minutes on a Friday or Saturday morning. Everyone is welcome; no previous experience required. All are learning in this endeavor. Blair and Ann will be glad to explain conditioning of flowers, mechanics, and thoughts about rhythm and color coordination in arrangements. They may offer handouts and the chance to take home flowers that weren’t used for the church arrangements
Come try this! The hope is to eventually provide flowers for every other Sunday with various pairs of workers so that it is not too demanding on anyone’s schedule. Contact Blair or Ann if you are interested or have questions. Thank you!
