Dear Saint Paul School Community & Friends,
Today's message is for our students:
Today I would like to share one of my favorite quotes. Some of you might know it or remember it from a favorite childhood book:
Promise me you’ll always remember: You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
- Christopher Robin talking to Pooh
You are all continuing to do amazing academic work with your teachers. (K-5 Progress Reports this Friday) but let’s not forget to take care of yourself at home. Call friends to stay connected. Get physical activity (while practicing social distancing). And if you find yourself with any extra time, maybe read that book you've been putting off.
Virtual Running Club 2020 starts next Tuesday! Activities will incorporate running, walking and physical fitness. We will have a new set of suggested activities for Tuesday and Thursday of each week. Don’t forget to stretch before you do any type of exercise or workout!
This may be a confusing or stressful time for you. Many of us feel unsure, uneasy, and unsettled with changes to our goals and plans. Remember that you are not alone. We are in this together!
Sincerely,
Principal

NOTE FROM SUPERINTENDENT THOMAS CARROLL
Dear Friends,
We are immensely grateful to all who have signed our petition to Governor Baker requesting that Catholic schools receive just funding from the
Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act
or the CARES Act. We implore you to spread the word and share this petition with family members and others who value Catholic education, as the COVID-19 crisis is posing extreme financial hardship on our schools.
The
Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund
allows Governor Baker to provide much needed financial support to education related entities within the state using funds from the CARES Act. Massachusetts Catholic schools serve the academic, spiritual, and community support needs of many low-income, working-class and middle-income families. Public schools benefit from the tax dollars of Catholic school families and, at this time of unprecedented need, Governor Baker should value the work of Catholic schools with financial support through the relief fund.
We implore you to spread the word with three friends and let your voices be heard!

Nurses are your bedside friend around-the-clock, the calming voice-of-reason, and the familiar face full of compassion. To so many, our medical professionals are guardian angels. Let's remember to celebrate and thank each of them for everything they do to make the world a happier and healthier place.
GOD BLESS YOU!

PROJECT GRATITUDE:
SUPPORTING OUR FIRST RESPONDERS
& HEALTH CARE HEROES
|
|
Mrs. Angela Abate (mom to Brinalyse, grade 7) received
a request from the Nurses on her unit at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) . They are asking for some encouraging signs for their unit from the Saint Paul School students. Their "sister unit," across the hall, is completely decorated & our unit need some bright and encouraging artwork to brighten the days of the patients and staff.
Click the image for an art template
or simply draw on BIG poster paper you may have at home.
We ask that you drop these picture off at the Abate house by Friday, May 8th (place in the box / basket outside the front door):

Katherine Murphy (grade 1) went to her Mom a couple of weeks ago with her allowance money that she’d been saving. Katherine told her Mom that she wanted to use it to do something nice for her classmates. She said she missed them and wanted to make them smile in case “the Corona” was making them sad.
Together, Katherine and her Mom ordered candy, gum, bubbles, pencils, and bags, and Katherine paid for everything out of her savings. After packing up special goody bags, Katherine, her mom and her sister, Colleen (grade 4) drove to all grade 1 classmates’ houses for delivery, which they have done over the last couple of days.
May your act of kindness, Katherine, inspire many more!

IMPRESSIVE SCHOOLWORK: GRADE 2
|
|
Grade 2 completed their inventor projects. Each child picked an inventor and talked about the impact of their inventions. Some highlights that created much fun discussion included:
Ruth Wakefield - inventor of the Nestles Tollhouse Cookie
Thomas Edison - was home schooled just like our second graders
Henry Ford - invented the Model T
Bill Gates - invented Microsoft

During this time away from school, it is important for all of us to balance our body and mind. Principal Fasano has "switched it up" a bit this month and is challenging our students to take a break from their learning and see how
creative you can be based on this "National Day" calendar.
