December 4, 2020
Dear Saint Paul School Community,

Yesterday, Grade 3-8 students and teachers participated in a 2-hour Mission Education Retreat.  Over 600 students virtually celebrated the Feast of our Patron, Saint Francis Xavier. This was a wonderful experience for our students as they learned about children in the missions, prayed, made a craft, and listened to Cardinal Sean talk (live!) about our call to be missionaries.  There were also two guest missionaries - one all the way from Zambia and the other, an Irish Divine Word Missionary who used to serve as the Secretary General of Missionary Childhood at the Vatican! He spoke about the various projects that are funded with the help of our students when they pray and sacrifice for children in the missions.

As the CDC is set to shorten the recommended length of quarantine after exposure to someone who tested positive for COVID19 (10-days no symptoms or 7-days with negative test) schools have been instructed that we do not have to adopt.  Therefore, Saint Paul School will be following the diocese recommendation to continue with the past guidance of 14-day quarantine as it is considered the “gold standard” and in the best interest of our school community.

We will also continue to follow to (1) enforce the travel order to high-risk locations from Governor Baker and (2) continue to require a negative PCR test before admission back to school. Once again, this is for the safety of our school community.  We have come so far with so little incidences and want to keep up the momentum.

I would like to introduce Ms. Alana Sennett as our new music teacher.  She comes to us with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Smith College.  I have been very impressed with her curriculum this week and look forward to see what she has planned for the future.

The next two weeks of school are filled with excitement as our students await the birth of Jesus on Christmas Day:

·      Gingerbread House making this Saturday with Mrs. Bruno and Mrs. Knobloch!
·      Next Tuesday is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and St. Paul Parish will be livestreaming 9a Mass and our students will be viewing.
·      The Annual PTO Christmas Bazaar is just one week away!  Keeping with tradition, students will be allowed to be festive and wear red and green on BOTH days December 10-11.
·      On December 11 students will be sent home with a Christmas stocking to decorate (similar to pumpkins at Halloween) and ask for them to be returned the following Monday.
·      Grade 7 students are preparing for the Spanish Nativity and Grade 4-5 Winter Drama Club is getting ready to perform Santa’s Workshop’s Got Talent!
·      Grade 1 will be dazzling their parents with their study of Christmas Around the World while Kindergarten has a little something up their sleeve too!
THANK YOU….
We have AWESOME families at Saint Paul School and cannot thank you enough for keeping the faculty and staff well fed.

The Naughton Family - Thank you for delicious breakfast from Brugger’s Bagels before Thanksgiving break!

Jen Knobloch – Her delicious pizza’s on Tuesday this week…. what a surprise!

Dianne & Tom Reilly - for the gorgeous poinsetta plant - making our entry festive for all to enjoy!

TEAM SPS: Embarking on a new adventure together!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,
Principal
