November 20, 2020
Dear Saint Paul School Community,

As we enter the season of Thanksgiving it is a time for all of us to think back on the blessings of the past year.  While an unusual eight months we have a lot to be blessed for.  I am particularly blessed for a dedicated staff that worked with me to reopen our school to 196 students and to 134 families for entrusting us with your most precious gift – your children.

It has been decided by the RCAB that the South Shore Basketball league will not be hosting games this winter season.  While this is a disappointment for our players, we appreciate their efforts as they are aligned with our efforts to keep our students safe.

This shared, it has come to our attention that many families are considering enrolling their students in indoor winter sports leagues.  We ask that before you enroll in such programs that you consider the risks to not only your student / family but to our school.  We hope that you value the efforts that have been put into opening Saint Paul School and making a daily in-person education available to all our students and will forgo activities that may risk the safety of our students, faculty and staff and cause a shift to remote learning. After the new year we will be looking into the possibility of athletic skills enrichment among cohort groups.

Music Teacher, Mrs. Joanna Manning-Souza will be leaving us this week as she has accepted a full-time teaching position in the Brookline Public School district.  We are working with Young World to secure a new music teacher for our return from Christmas break.  Until then we will secure an in-house substitute.  That being said, and given the restrictions of COVID, we will not have our traditional Christmas Concert of carols. Classrooms or grade levels will have other celebrations, and we will put out more information following Thanksgiving Break.

For safety and security purposes teachers will be issuing NEW ZOOM links for our remote learners and will go into effect December 1.

A few weeks back I was asked by the Catholic Schools Office to attend a Verbal Intervention Certification Program. This Verbal Intervention training prepared me to provide my staff with the skills to safely recognize and defuse challenging behaviors.  There were three components - online coursework, a one-day online training followed by a certification exam.  I am pleased to say I completed on Wednesday and received word on Thursday I passed!  I look forward to training our staff after the first of the year and sharing this knowledge with our school community.

We have AWESOME families at Saint Paul School and cannot thank you enough for keeping the faculty and staff well fed.

The Stenfors Family - Thank you for delicious luncheon from Alma Nove on Monday!

The Schmitt Family – Thank you for a delicious lunch from Lavishly Dunn in Hanover on Wednesday!

The Saint Paul School PTO Christmas season is in full-swing.  The Christmas Bazaar is scaled down this year with ample accommodations made for COVID guidelines.  Please read the email correspondences carefully and reach out if you have any questions.
