October 9, 2020
Dear Saint Paul School Community,

This week I received a donation from a Resurrection Church parishioner in the mail with the note “In recognition of Catholic education”!  The reason I mention this is that it is so nice to see our community value what we do each and every day.

In order to accommodate Parent Teacher Conferences for all families (PS-Grade 8) via ZOOM there is a change to our November calendar.  November 4 will be a NO SCHOOL DAY for students.  Teachers will hold conferences from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.  Additionally, conferences will be offered on November 5 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.  Grade 4-5 and Grade 6-8 will hold conferences together allowing each parent an opportunity to meet with all teachers at once.  Teachers will send out a google or doodle.com link to sign-up next week. Before conference dates you will receive a ZOOM link and on conference days teachers will admit you from the waiting room at your time. If you have already met with a teacher please do not sign up for a conference on these dates as we are short sessions to accommodate all families.

REMOTE LEARNING...
If a student moves to remote learning (asymptomatic and waiting COVID testing results) we will work our best to have materials ready for pick-up.  We have been doing a good job but would like to let parents know materials may not be ready for 24 hours.

On Wednesday the teachers and I discussed the need to sometimes change instructional lessons. It is important that we are meeting the learning needs of all students and reteaching or changing course of instruction as needed.  This is not a new practice at Saint Paul School. We are realizing how it may or may not impact remote learners and working through it. In this case, remote students may not have the required materials until after a lesson or school day is completed.

Picture Day (individual) is next Wednesday, October 14. At this time, we will not be doing group class pictures.  You should have received an email directly from O’Connor Studios to register/purchase as they are trying to be as contract free as possible.  Also, they will not be straightening our uniforms, hair, etc.  We will do our best to make our students looks nice! Remote Learners, please arrive at 11:30a. Location to be announced per weather report.

DISMISSALS
While we discourage dismissals during the school day, if it is necessary for you to dismiss your student, we ask that this occurs before 1:30p and not during lunch hour (11:30a-12:30p). Remember, once dismissed, your student may not return that school day.

THANK YOU….
When I first started in administration, I read a book titled “If You Don’t Feed the Teachers, They Eat the Students” by Nelia Connors.  Over the years, it’s helped me to make a difference for my teachers and now you are “literally” doing it!

We have AWESOME families at Saint Paul School and cannot thank you enough for keeping the faculty and staff well fed.

School Board members AnnMarie and Jack Manning, Manning and Collins Families – Thank you for providing the faculty and staff with lunch on our Distance Learning Day!
