September 6, 2019
Dear Saint Paul School Families and Friends,

I hope you enjoyed the summer break and had some family time.  I would like to personally welcome everyone to the 2019-2020 school year and let you know I look forward to all the good it has coming our way.

This week we opened our doors to 32 new students and 17 new families. Today we celebrated our opening liturgy with our Grade 8 students, bus safety for students, and showcased our Academic Excellence and Support Center.

NWEA MAP testing starts next week. MAP ®  assessments are used to measure your student’s progress or growth in school. MAP ®  tests are important to teachers because they keep track of progress and growth in basic skills. They let teachers know where a student’s strengths are and if help is needed in any specific areas. Teachers use this information to help them guide instruction in the classroom. The testing schedule for Kindergarten–Grade 5 / Grade 6-8 students can be found in this newsletter.

NUT FREE - We continue to be a " Nut Free" school. Students who love peanut butter sandwiches may like sunbutter, a sesame seed spread, instead. Please identify the sandwich as sunbutter on the sandwich wrap.

Fall Afterschool Enrichment will start the week of September 16.  The flier has been emailed and posted to ParentsWeb.  Please return no later than September 13.  Activities will be first come, first served as teachers purchase supplies for those enrolled only.  There are lots of great opportunities (new and old) that you child will not want to miss!

New this school year -- We will be concluding our school day with the Peace Prayer of Saint Francis.  Each student received a copy today.  Below is a copy for home.

What an extraordinary first week and I am looking forward to partnering with your and your children this school year.

Sincerely,
Principal
Peace Prayer of Saint Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
