June 6 E-News
From Director of Music Daniel Weatherholt:

I wish to offer special thanks to John Widmann who is serving as our substitute organist for both services this weekend. As many of you will recall, John was organist for Sunday services here at St. Peter's during the search that resulted in my call as your Director of Music and I know that all of you will enjoy seeing and hearing him play again! I am currently away at the Southeast Regional Convention of the American Guild of Organists (AGO) in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. My wife Elizabeth is joining me here on Monday and she will get in some beach time with our friends who live in the area while I am in meetings! For Pentecost Sunday, I am worshiping at Holy Cross Faith Memorial Episcopal Church in Pawleys Island where very dear friends of ours are parishioners. During the convention itself, I will get to meet and attend performances by several high profile organists from North America and Europe, I will tour and get to play several organs in the Grand Strand area, I will be attending a workshop on choral repertoire for the small choir, a chapter development seminar in my role as Dean of the Annapolis Chapter of the AGO, and choral music sessions given by Morning Star Publishing (Some of Wallace Dobry's work is published through them) and St. James Music Press. I look forward to updating our St. Peter's family on the convention after I return!

  • TEAM MEMBERS NEEDED FOR A JOURNEY TO MARS!! We're going on a space mission this year and we need you to join us on our way to Mars...and Beyond! St. Peter's Vacation Bible School for 2019 will blast off July 22-26 from 1-4:30 p.m. Our mission takes us on a journey to Mars and Beyond as we explore where God's power can take us. We are in need of many adult and youth leaders to serve, lead and most of all, HAVE FUN on our adventure. Please contact Carole Bailer at bailers@verizon.net or 301-874-8475 if you have questions. There is also a sign up sheet by the door in the foyer. (Youth leaders have to be rising 6th graders and above.)
  • If you're looking for a fun, creative, empowering camp for your elementary aged little ones, join us this summer for Camp Yogativity! Each week we'll explore community involvement, STEM, yoga, mindfulness, arts, growth mindsets & more! Camp is run by a LOCAL elementary school teacher as well as a certified children's yoga and mindfulness instructor. We'll be at St. Peter's for the weeks of June 24th and August 19th. Email campyogativity@gmail.com with questions. Pre-registration is required before June 7th.
  • St. Peter's Summer Online Bible Study Everyone at St. Peter's is welcome to join us this summer for an online study of the books of Acts and 2 Corinthians.  We will read through both books from June 16 to August 31 with a few Psalms thrown in along the way.  Participants will enjoy learning about the early church in Acts and be introduced some fascinating early Christians.  Then, in Corinthians, we will get a taste of Paul's theology.  It promises to be an enjoyable summer of reading!  Because we are doing this study online, you can do the readings, read other participant's thoughts about the readings, and share your own ideas whenever and wherever you would like.  This is a great way to stay connected with your friends at St. Peter's even if you are traveling and you will get to read some great books of the Bible.  We will use St. Peter's online platform (Realm) for this study to make sure all are comfortable participating in the group.  If you are already able to access Realm, just sign in at onrealm.org, go to the "Groups" item, go to the "Find a Group" tab, click on "Community", and you will find "Acts and 2 Corinthians Summer Study".  Click "join" and you are in.  If you are not in Realm, let Kyra, the St. Peter's office administrator (kyra@stpeterspoolesville.org), know you want to participate and she will add you to Realm.  From there just follow the instructions above.  We will not start the study until June 16, so you have plenty of time to join the group. If you have any problems joining the group or if you want any additional information about the online group, please contact Joel Tjornehoj (jtjor@comcast.net).  Join us this summer as St. Peter's reads Acts and 2 Corinthians!
  • Dick Franklin has put together a parish trip to Winged Sprint dirt track race, at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, PA on Saturday June 8. We will meet at church parking lot at 4:45 pm and leave for race at 5 pm. Races start at 7:30pm, food is available at reasonable prices at the track. Contact Dick Franklin with any questions at 301 639-8781.
  • E-BAY SALES The Women of St. Peter's have a charity based E-Bay account.  Because it is a charity, there are no commissions taken out by E-Bay.  ALL proceeds are dedicated to reduce the principal on the loan balance of the mortgage.  If you have something of value or of interest that you would like to donate to this cause, please contact Barbara at bkandreassen@comcast.net .    To view what is for sale now, control+click this link:  https://www.ebay.com/usr/women_of_st_peters .  To see all items for sale once you are in the WSP store, click on "see all items" at the top.  Once in that list, check out all the items recently sold by checking the "sold" box on the left.  It is an amazing assortment!  Thank you to Erik Andreassen for managing these listings and sales.
  • The St. Peter's Choir rehearses every Sunday following the 10:30 service in the choir room. We welcome all persons High School age and older to join us. The ability to read music is not a requirement and no previous choir experience is necessary. The only requirements are a love for music and the ability to commit to weekly rehearsal. The Sunday rehearsal time is designed to be ideal for those who cannot commit to a weeknight rehearsal as well as parents who may have children attending Sunday school after the 10:30 service.
