Meet our new Director of Music Ministries
Our new Director of Music Ministries will join us January 20th!

Daniel Weatherholt has had a passion for church music from a very young age. He grew up at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church in Hancock, Maryland where his father has served as Rector since 1980 (Daniel's mother is also an Episcopal priest). At St. Thomas', Daniel began as a youth chorister and piano student with Mrs. J. Gwynne Cavey, Minister of Music at St. Thomas' and later became an adult chorister and assistant organist at age 16. He went on to become an organ student at Hagerstown Community College where he studied organ with Mr. Mark King and Dr. Clair Johannsen. Daniel holds a bachelors degree in Music with concentrations in organ performance and choral conducting from Frostburg State University where he studied with Dr. Judith Brown, Dr. Joan DeVee Dixon, Dr. Karen Soderberg-Sarnaker, and Mr. Mark Steiner. He also studied music education at Mount St. Mary's University and business management at Hagerstown Community College.

As an organist and a choirmaster, Daniel has held positions in Roman Catholic and Episcopal Churches throughout the state of Maryland in communities including Boonsboro, Clear Spring, Hancock, Frostburg, Lonaconing, and most recently served as Director of Music at St. Mark's on the Hill Episcopal Church in Pikesville. He currently serves as Dean of the Annapolis Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and is the accompanist for the Carlton Singers, a seasonal community choir on Federal Hill in Baltimore directed by his voice coach Mrs. Nancy Long Dudley. Aside from his involvement in music, Daniel works part-time as parish administrator at Sherwood Episcopal Church in Cockeysville, MD.

Daniel is an affiliate of the Royal School of Church Music in America, he served from 2010 to 2017 as a member of the commission on ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland at the appointment of Bishop John Rabb, and he serves as a special events volunteer at Washington National Cathedral where he is a member of the cathedral congregation. He often serves as a lay reader and usher for Sunday Choral Evensong and other special services at the Cathedral and is an active participant in the 20's and 30's group.

Daniel is married to the Rev. Elizabeth Sipos who hails from Sudbury, Ontario and was ordained to the priesthood in the Anglican Church of Canada in 2011. She serves as Rector of St. John's Episcopal Church in Kingsville, Maryland and is also a musician, having earned a bachelors degree in vocal performance and has sung professionally throughout Canada prior to moving to Maryland. They live in the Baltimore-area. In his spare time, Daniel enjoys reading, playing golf, sampling local restaurants, and summer trips to Ocean City, Maryland. He is very excited to get started at St. Peter's and very much looks forward to getting to know the congregation!
