Our First Grade students have been working diligently since the first week of school on their own personal number scrolls

To help students understand our number system and increase their number sense, we scroll! Each student has an independent goal to write numbers as high as they can!

During their math block, students enjoy working on their scrolls and adding to them.

Mrs. Haigler shared that an exercise such as this "builds fluency in numbers and reinforces place value. It also builds confidence in each child's math skills." Mrs. Pennington added, "scrolling has inspired students to see how high they can count." Some of our first grade students have already reached 4,550! First grader PJ Wietholter says that "counting the pages is my favorite part!" Way to go, Crusaders!
