Leading a school is a little like driving a car on a road trip. You need to be present in the moment and fully attentive. You need to keep your eyes on the road before you. You need to have your destination ‘locked in’ even though you can’t see it.
At VCHS, we’re on that road trip this time of year. We are more than halfway through the school year, soaking it all in. With re-enrollment for the 2025-26 school year opening this week and next year’s class registration beginning a few weeks from now, our eyes are on the road before us. We continue to do all of it through a vision (the destination) outlined in the VCHS Strategic Plan 2030 that provides the roadmap.
We’re also in the thick of our admission season for the Class of 2029. With over 10 local middle schools represented, we have already received 46 applications.
Speaking of admissions, some of our forty-one seniors have made their college choices and so far, have committed to Alabama, Cal Poly Maritime, Case Western, Colorado Mesa (Tennis), Grand Canyon, New Hampshire, Oregon, and Tennessee. Remaining college decisions will happen between now and April.
Are we there yet? Yes and no. Keep your eyes on the road!
