Greetings! Please enjoy our Saints News!

HEAD OF SCHOOL MUSING

At our annual Veterans Day Assembly, we honored two local veterans: Corporal Ron Amass (Dad of Kyra Amass ’26) and Retired Lt. Colonel, Dr. Holly Franz.

We also took time to recognize VCHS military alumni, veterans and active duty.

At the assembly, Corporal Ron Amass shared one of the best Veterans Day speeches I’ve heard. I’d like to see his message go beyond the walls of Grace Auditorium where the assembly took place, to a far greater audience. It should be taken to heart by all of us. Take a moment to read and reflect on his speech and consider what our country would look like if each of us acted on his challenge.

BRAVOS

Last week, Brynlee Smith, Griffin Smith, and Mrs. Verratti were invited to attend the conference "Beyond the Path: Youth Charting the Course" with various stakeholders in the Vail Valley, to understand barriers to nurturing and retaining local talent in our mountain community. During the forum, remedies were identified, such as internships, career apprenticeships, and targeted guidance, but stakeholders recognized the need for improved access and connections for young people.

The keynote speaker of the event, sponsored by YouthPower 365 of the Vail Valley Foundation, was Dr. Doannie Tran, author of the Open System and managing partner of the Center for Innovation in Education, which collaborates with communities nationwide. Groups in attendance include Vail Resorts, Vail Health, Walking Mountains, Roundup River Ranch, Bright Futures, Core Transit, Elevar, Eagle County School District, University of Denver, Colorado Mountain College, and many more.

Brynlee and Griffin shared their experiences and asked thought-provoking questions; they are both positive examples of young people who take advantage of local opportunities to engage and give back. Thank you, Brynlee and Griffin, for representing VCHS so well to our greater community.

STUDENT LIFE

The Hispanic Leadership Club had a busy week!

On Wednesday, Nov 5th, 11 members of the Hispanic Leadership Club made and served dinner to over 30 people at Loaves and Fishes at the Eagle River Presbyterian Church (above).

On Friday November 7th, we headed to the Hawks Nest with Mrs. Burner, Señora Ward, Mrs. Siess, 13 Hispanic Leadership Club members and a handful of future Saints to build community outside of school.

The HLC hosted their first Taco Tuesday in partnership with Bentley's on Tuesday to raise funds for future HLC events and support their philanthropy in the community. They hope to make this a weekly offering to diversify lunch options for VCHS students
