A football team like this year’s doesn’t come around very often. That said, I’d like to highlight our Football Team and provide some Saints history.
With a 9-0 overall record, and 6-0 in the Western Slope League, Saints Gridironers notched up their 4th undefeated season (‘03, ‘14, ‘19, ‘21) and 6th League Championship (‘03, ‘08, ‘13, ‘14, ‘19, ‘21). During the regular season the Saints outscored their opponents 402-110, and according to Mr. Jager, that’s an average of 44.667 offensive points per game.
This is the 7th season in which Saints Football qualified for the State Playoffs (‘03, ‘13, ‘14, ‘15, ‘18, ‘19, ‘21). With this year’s 1st Round State Playoffs, Vail Christian #3 takes on Pikes Peak Christian #14 this Saturday afternoon.
With 25 young men on the team, I want to give a special shout out to our Seniors – Sea Dog Orion Adelman, Prime Time Jesse Gonzalez, Ninja Moves Jeff Hall, Miles ‘Diesel’ Imhof, Peter ‘Beast’ Mills, Eddie Palacio – aka The Fridge, Sweetness Vinny Nowicki, and Razzmatazz Leo Rothenberg – a band of brothers who have worked tirelessly since the season officially started on August 9th.
I also want to congratulate Coach Pierson in his 18th season as Head Coach, as well as assistant coaches: Offensive Coordinator Bob Engleby, Defensive Coordinator Dan Mysnyk, and Special Assistant Mike McClinton. It’s been an epic season, and our young men are now on a 4-game quest, focused only on the game in front of them, but with a vision for a State Title.
Show up on Saturday and Go Saints!
