Hello Steve, Please enjoy our Saints News!

HEAD OF SCHOOL MUSING

CESA is the acronym for the Council on Educational Standards and Accountability. After a thorough vetting process, VCHS was invited to become a CESA Member of Council in 2020 and today we’re proud to be in the company of some of the finest Christian schools in the country. In Colorado, that includes Cherry Hills Christian School, Lutheran High School, and Valor Christian High School.

CESA also serves as our accrediting body, largely through its rigorous standards that we must demonstrate evidence of meeting or exceeding. Next week, a CESA Institutional Review team will be on campus to assess our compliance and advancement with these standards.

What’s unique about CESA could be summed up in a passage of Scripture from Solomon’s Proverbs – As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. The iron that is sharpening our iron are all the other CESA schools and their leaders who are also ambitious in pursuing further levels of excellence for our students and even more importantly for God’s glory.

We have worked hard over the last 18 months to prepare for the CESA team’s visit. They will be meeting with our board, faculty, students, parents, and leadership team members to assess how we match up with what we have already presented to them in a substantial school self-evaluation report.

As VCHS defines excellence as the process of becoming better than we once were, we look forward to gaining insights from their feedback – to pat ourselves on the back and to pinpoint opportunities to improve and strengthen. That’s exactly CESA’s mission – to motivate, support, and hold accountable Christian schools that aspire to superlative academic standards, institutional best practices, and collaboration with like-minded schools.

STUDENT LIFE

Thank you Mr. Brumm!

Students of Mrs. Hochtl's class, Community Health and Food Sustainability send a big thank you to Jason Brumm, from Gravity Haus and father of Alex, Class of '27, who taught students how to pickle, cure, and ferment salmon using cucumbers, red onions, garlic, mustard seed, salt, and black pepper during a lesson on ancient methods of food preservation. From this bounty, lox bagels will be sold on Friday AM at the Bentley's window for $7.

Inside the Biology Classroom

As a fun Friday activity, biology students created DNA molecules out of candy. Modeling the covalent vs. hydrogen bonds helps students to understand how replication and therefore our new cells are made.
