The Christian calling to lead a school like VCHS can be likened to a relay race. The baton is exchanged from one leader to the next. Ten years ago, I received the baton from Jeremy Lowe who was concluding his Head of School tenure. At the end of this school year, I will pass the baton to Dan Mysnyk who will continue to advance the VCHS mission with excellence grounded in faith rooted in Jesus Christ.
The author of the Book of Hebrews captures the baton exchange well. Since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses [those who led and ran the race before us], let us throw off everything that hinders…and run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfector of faith.
Board Chair Kevin Wilson shared in his letter to our community that VCHS is the strongest and healthiest it’s ever been. I wholeheartedly agree. Our teachers are the very best with whom I have ever worked. The leadership team is exceptional.
Another baton exchange is happening between Kristy Maslan and a new Director of Admissions. I’m excited to announce that Carol Wilson, a longtime valley resident and parent of an incoming freshman, will be joining the team as the new Director of Admissions beginning this summer.
Dan Mysnyk has been primed for this opportunity having served as Assistant Head of School the last three years. He has also prepared for this new opportunity well as an Ascending Leader of the prestigious Van Lunen program.
It has been my joy to work alongside the VCHS Board of Directors who have overseen the Head of School search and named Dan as the next Head of School. Their work is vital ensuring mission fidelity, fiduciary strength and strategic clarity.
