Earlier in my school career I was a cross country and track and field coach. My runners often heard me say ‘finish past the finish line.’ In other words, give it everything you have at the end of the race because every second shaved off your time matters. The same is true for VCHS students as they finish their school-year race and prepare for summer rest and recovery.
The VCHS April and May calendar is full of normal school rites of passage, but we also have some unique traditions for which I’m proud. It’s a time to work hard but also have some fun. A few include:
-
April 21-23 Happy Days: The Spring Musical
- April 25-29 Wacky Tacky Spirit Week & epic all-school Kickball Game
-
April 30 Prom (all grades 9th-12th)
- May 12 Senior Salute (and last day of classes for Seniors)
- May 17 Honors Ceremony (during the school day)
- May 18 Closing Convocation
-
May 25-26 9th-11th Exams
- May 26 Yearbook Signing and Chicago-style Lunch
- May 27 Baccalaureate
- May 28 Graduation
The finish line is near – we can see it. Let’s savor the days ahead and finish past the finish line.
