Let’s begin with recent Vail Daily headlines because they tell much of the story…
- Vail Christian tennis starts the season with 3 wins: Vail Christian took over as host for the county this season
- Vail Christian girls tennis continues winning ways
- Vail Christian tennis defeats 4A schools en route to winning Steamboat Springs Tournament
- Vail Christian girls tennis defeats Peak to Peak in thrilling team state championship quarterfinal match
- Vail Christian girls tennis dominates 3A Region 8 Tournament
- Vail Christian girls claim multiple titles at 3A state tennis tournament
In short, this is how the season played out. The varsity girls finished the regular season 11-0. They then pivoted to two different paths – team state and individual state. Going into team state, VCHS girls tennis was ranked #5 and made it all the way to the team 3A state semifinals (defeating #4) but losing 3-4 to #1 Holy Family.
With the individual 3A state tournament, VCHS placed all of its 7 lines (3 singles and 4 doubles). In our first year running girls tennis for Eagle County, the girls represented BMHS, EVHS, Homeschool, VCHS and VMS. For VCHS, shout outs go to Jessie Allen ‘25 (#3 Singles and State Runner-up), Juliet Studness ‘24 (#1 Doubles and State 3rd Place), and Kamryn Mitchell ‘23 and Aria Webster ‘23 (#2 Doubles and State Champions).
Beyond varsity, several VCHS girls represented a very strong JV program and included: Emma Adams ‘25, Grace Armstrong ‘24, Grace Engleby ‘23, Ava Garrison ’23, Siena Kassmel ‘25, Hannah Leonard ‘24, and Patricia Zhang ‘23.
Shout outs also go to the entire coaching staff – Kristy Maslan, Eric Meyer, Erica Studness, JD Webster, and Kirsten Webster.
Let’s go Saints!
