Greetings! Enjoy our Saints News!
I love summers. Denae and I were able to spend time with our daughter in NYC. She served as our tour guide through three of the boroughs. The Mets-Chicago Cubs evening game, along with a stellar sunset, was a highlight. We also enjoyed time with our two sons – one who lives close by in Denver and the other VCHS ’19 grad home from college.
Equally so, I love the start of a school year. I missed not seeing our students on campus and the way in which their optimism and energy bring life to campus. During in-service days, our faculty/staff expressed the same sentiment. We were so ready to get students back on campus (without masks) and regain some sense of ‘normal.’
We began the year with 156 students – a historic record. For us, they’re not just students, they’re ‘souls’ – works of art and God’s most precious gift to His ongoing work of creation. I want to again welcome the 41 freshmen (including two 8th graders), 8 transfer students (including international students from Mexico City and Brazil), and all of their families. God has gathered together a beautiful mosaic of people, including our talented faculty and staff, to form a new VCHS family for the 21-22 school year.
I’m reminded again and again to take nothing for granted – especially the VCHS community! I couldn’t be with a better group of people as we learn and grow together and have the privilege to prepare a generation for lives of purpose, service, and leadership – to make our world a better place.
