After doubling up on English and Social Studies last school year, Kristin Baker returns to full-time Freshmen and Sophomore Pre-AP English.
Heidi Cofelice will add AP Studio Art to her ‘palette’ and through her marketing company, Project Seedling, will serve as our Marketing Coordinator.
Stepping away for a year to spend more time with her young boys, Sarah Hochtl returns to full-time teaching with AP Environmental Science, Chemistry, and AP Physics.
Our Math Department Chair Tyler Jager adds AP Calculus BC to his repertoire along with Pre-calculus/College Algebra, Pre-calculus, AP Calculus AB, and Worship Arts.
After teaching Theology at VCHS from 2009-2016, Scott Leonard returns to teach Senior Capstone. A graduate of Baylor University and Dallas Theological Seminary, Scott and his wife Cara have three kids Hannah ‘24, Asher (12) and Corbynn (10). Scott has served at The Vail Church and as Young Life’s Area Director. He currently serves as the Area Director for SEARCH, an organization that invites adults to take their next step towards God by creating space for honest questions, answers and conversations about life, faith, and God.
Kristy Maslan joined the VCHS team in July and serves as our Office Manager. Kristy received her Bachelors from UC-Santa Barbara in Business/Economics. While in the valley she has worked for Karin’s, Vail Resorts, and as a real estate broker. She has also served her children’s schools and church in countless ways. Kristy has three young adults – Ben (23, CSU grad), Ava (21, @Cal Poly), and Cate ’20 (@ Boston College).
‘Renaissance Man’ Dan Mysnyk (Performance PE, Algebra II, AP Statistics, AP Macroeconomics) is also teaching a new course – Personal Financial Management, a required course for our new Business Leadership Certificate program.
To open up more time opportunities for her students, Denae O’Neil is offering Robotics as a semester course.
A Social Studies teacher at heart, Steve O’Neil is teaching DE US Government during 1st semester and is excited about the timing – 1st Semester in an exciting election year.
Luke Vlaar ’20 joins the VCHS team as a part-time staff member. Working with JC Moritz (IT Guru), Luke (IT Guru Assistant) will provide overall technology support, including specific tech support for faculty.
We’re excited that Senorita Stephanie Ward is transitioning to teach full-time Spanish and 9th grade Pre-AP World History/Geography.
Barb Wilson is continuing to teach Spanish and Life and Teachings of Christ, but is also taking on a new required 9th grade course – Speech, a prerequisite for our new Business Leadership Certificate program. Speech’s scope will focus on interpersonal and presentational communication, including interview skills.
