September 12, 2024

Hello Steve, Please enjoy our Saints News!

HEAD OF SCHOOL MUSING

I’m impressed with the high percentage of our students who participate in one or more high school sports. Our commitment to athletic excellence is rooted in our fidelity to ‘equipping the body,’ shaping character, learning to work towards a common goal in community (team), and spiritual formation. This week I want to highlight VCHS’s five fall sports.

Dance is coached by Head Coach Caroline Carlson Bauer (VCHS Class of 2010), a former Saints Dance Team member, and daughter of former coach, Patti Carlson. The girls perform dance routines at events like halftime at football games and are working hard to prepare for the CHSAA State Championship in December.

Football is coached by Head Coach Tim Pierson, Bob Engleby, Dan Mysnyk, Morgan Mayer, and Ramsey Romanin. With JV and Varsity squads, thirty boys are out this season. Last weekend, Saints Football had a big win over Norwood winning 30-28, and this weekend they are away at Lyons.

Boys Golf is coached by Head Coach Chad Hansen who recently was crowned the 2024 Colorado Senior PGA Professional Champion and qualified for the Senior PGA Professional Championship. Boys Golf runs Varsity and Developmental teams with about fifteen boys. Other coaches and volunteers include: Lee Adams, Ben Dodds, and Kate Tyler.

Boys Tennis is coached by Head Coach JD Webster and his wife, Kirsten, supports the team with logistics. VCHS Tennis is the CHSAA Varsity Tennis Team for Eagle County, meaning players from Battle Mountain High School, Eagle Valley High School, and Vail Mountain School are also members of the Saints Tennis Team. Seven VCHS players compete at the Varsity level, including top players at Singles #1, #2, and #3.

Girls Volleyball is coached by Head Coach Britney Branson, Katy Allen, Chad Brasington, Savannah Webster, and Intern Logan Nobrega (Class of 2024). The girls are off to a strong start with a home match against powerhouse Meeker this Friday night.

We are also thrilled to have Ryan Hart, Director of Sports Medicine/Athletic Trainer, serve our student-athletes with exceptional support and care.

Saints Athletics are off to a strong start and Bentley, our St. Bernard mascot, couldn’t be happier!

Let’s Go Saints!

Congratulations to This Year's Selected

SPRI EPOC Participants

Vail Christian High School’s SPRI EPOC Selection Committee is pleased to announce our 2024-2025 participants, Seniors Radije Sammour Brito and Mason Darnall. They were chosen based on the rigor of their high school science courses, strong evidence of teamwork and laboratory skills set, and their passions and goals to pursue a future career in health care professions.

Our selected Saints will participate in the 7-month long program aimed to promote scientific inquiry by providing students with the opportunity to conduct innovative scientific research while mentored by professional scientists. The program goal is to foster an interest in science by promoting goal driven research questions.
