Greetings! Enjoy our Saints News!
HEAD OF SCHOOL MUSINGS
will be a VCHS first-ever and a one-of-a-kind event for the Vail Valley. You won’t want to miss it, so block out your evening calendar for April 3 rd . There will be plenty of laughing, thanks to Michael, Jr ., a professional ‘clean comedian’ who has made recent TV appearances on The Tonight Show, Comedy Central, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and many others. Michael, Jr. will do an almost 1-hour stand-up comedy routine. There will be mingling with great people while enjoying fine food and drinks. And there will be dancing with an appearance by ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Erin and Bob Boselli. Tickets will be on sale very soon and reasonably priced for an event of this kind. Consider inviting adult friends and family to what will be a magical evening.

To prime your laughter pump, here are a few Michael, Jr. vignettes:

LaughMingleDance: A Night of Comedy’s primary purpose is simply a VCHS fun-loving, community-building event. At the same time, there are a few opportunities to support VCHS through corporate or individual sponsorships, silent auction items, and underwriting. If you’d like to learn more about how to plug in with that, email me at soneil@vchsweb.org or members of the sponsorships, silent auction, and underwriting committee below.

If you’d like to volunteer and lend a hand, please contact one of following people or me:

  • Event Coordinator – Brian Hall (10th)
  • Sponsorships, Silent Auction, Underwriting – Erin Boselli (10th), Karen Lee (9th and 12th), Laura Nowicki (10th)
  • PR/Marketing – Inga Causey (10th), Sarah Bishop (9th)
  • Food/Drink/Décor – Katie Rothenberg (10th), Anna Mills (10th), Rose Braden (11th), Nicki Kohrmann (11th)

Thank you so much to these parents and we’d love to see more involved. Stay tuned for more from LaughMingleDance: A Night of Comedy!

We are so excited to have Michael Jr. as our featured entertainment!

BRAVOS
CONGRATULATIONS
to senior Isabelle Richie on her Finalist status for the National Merit Scholarship Program! In each annual National Merit Scholarship Program, about 50,000 academically talented high school students are honored, but only some 16,000 of them are named Semifinalists. Students who qualify as Semifinalists based on their performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test are the only program participants who have an opportunity to advance to the Finalist level and compete for National Merit Scholarships. About 7,500 of the outstanding Finalists will be chosen as Merit Scholarship ®  winners in the 2020 competition.
During last Saturdays Varsity game vs. Cap Rock these VCHS band of brothers found themselves all on the court, all at the same time! Ryan, Quinn & Connor Downey and Alec and Theo Moritz.
GO SAINTS FAMILY!

If you would like to learn more about the college admission process - The Truth About College Admissions: A Family Guide to Getting In and Staying Together, is a great read with helpful and realistic insights. The book was written by Rick Clark (Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Georgia Institute of Technology and Brennan Barnard (Admissions Program Manager at Making Caring Common at Harvard Graduate School of Education) as a resource for families who, Barnard said, wish to approach the admissions experience in a thoughtful and balanced way guided by unity and purpose, not games and status. I look forward to having a few book discussions starting at the end of February (dates TBD).
