Greetings! Enjoy our Saints News!
HEAD OF SCHOOL MUSINGS
This coming week we will be visited by a 3-member team from the Council on Educational Standards and Accountability (CESA) , an exceptional organization in which VCHS is seeking membership. The team is visiting to assess our school’s compliance with CESA’s standards and hopefully recommend VCHS to be a CESA Member of Council. Member of Council status will also provide us re-accreditation through 2026.

Why is CESA important? First, achieving CESA’s ‘best practices’ standards gives us a target to achieve excellence – the heart of our mission. Second, becoming a CESA Member of Council supports our ‘brand’ and marketing efforts to further distinguish us with colleges and universities. Finally, CESA membership would provide us with a strong Christian alliance and place us in relationships with like-minded Christian school teachers and leaders.

At this time in Colorado, the only CESA Member of Council school is Valor Christian High School. Others in Colorado that are pursuing CESA Member of Council status include: Cherry Hills Christian School, Lutheran High School-Parker, and Resurrection Christian School-Loveland.

I’m very grateful to our teachers and staff who have worked incredibly hard to ensure our readiness for next week’s institutional review.

SOPHOMORE COLLEEN FARRELL | TEDXYOUTH

Behind a great writer is an editor. Behind a great speech is a coach. And that’s exactly what Colleen Farrell ‘22 has been doing over the last few months as one of TedxYouth@Vail’s speaker coaches. This year’s theme is ‘Impact,’ and Colleen has been coaching Lana Gollyhorn, a psychotherapist from Denver whose TedxYouth@Vail March 28 th speech will be ‘Childhood is not a Checklist.” This is Colleen’s 2 nd year with TedxYouth@Vail as she was a speaker last year with an address titled ‘Modern Narcissism.’ Congratulations Colleen on taking a leadership role among the young people of our community.

If you would like to learn more about the college admission process - The Truth About College Admissions: A Family Guide to Getting In and Staying Together, is a great read with helpful and realistic insights. The book was written by Rick Clark (Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Georgia Institute of Technology and Brennan Barnard (Admissions Program Manager at Making Caring Common at Harvard Graduate School of Education) as a resource for families who, Barnard said, wish to approach the admissions experience in a thoughtful and balanced way guided by unity and purpose, not games and status.
