HEAD OF SCHOOL MUSINGS
Today’s headlines read…
  • America’s way of life changes indefinitely
  • Longest bull market in US history is dead
  • Virus spurs more cancellations and market shockwaves
  • Coronavirus could be in Colorado for months, state health director says

Words expressing our thoughts and emotions this past week probably run the gamut. Disbelief. Sad. Anxious. Out of control. Frustration. Fear.

Today’s events are not new to God or to people who have followed Him for centuries. Psalm 46 opens with “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” and concludes with “Be still, and know that I am God . I will be exalted in the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.”

During times like these, we need to strike the right balance between the physical world (what we see and hear) with the power and beauty of the spiritual world – I, God, am your refuge and strength!

America’s way of life changes indefinitely …Be still, and know that I am God. Longest bull market in US history is dead …Be still, and know that I am God. Virus spurs more cancellations and market shockwaves… Be still, and know that I am God. Coronavirus could be in Colorado for months, state health director says …Be still, and know that I am God.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Public Health strongly recommends schools remain open.
Governor Polis outlined criteria for school closings in the event a positive case is identified in a school through a student or staff member.
  • One positive case in a school, that school closes for 72 hours for sterilization
  • Two positive cases in a school, the school closes for 144 hours for sterilization
  • Multiple positive cases in a school, the school closes for 14 days to break the cycle of transmission
  • If multiple cases occur at multiple schools within a district, the district closes for 14 day
Our best defense against the spread of viruses, including flu and Coronavirus, is prevention. By following these recommendations, together we can reduce the risk of viral infections at VCHS:
  • Keep your student from coming to school, and contact your doctor if he or she is experiencing any symptoms. If your child has a fever over 100.0, keep them home until they are fever free for 24 hours without medication.
  • Practice good hygiene techniques like:
  • Frequently washing your hands for at least 20 seconds or using at least a 60% alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available
  • Covering your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze with a tissue
  • Refraining from sharing food and drinks
  • Avoiding close contact with others who are sick
  • Wiping down frequently touched surfaces
  • We are also routinely wiping desks and common surfaces with disinfectant to provide a clean and safe learning environment
We will continue to monitor the information issued by reliable sources such as the  Centers for Disease Control Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment , and  Eagle County , among others.
