Saint Theresa Feast Day Thank You

A big thank you to everyone who volunteered for Saint Theresa's Feast Day! We appreciate the time you gave to help make the day special for our students and staff. We’re grateful to have you as part of our Saint Theresa community!

Veterans Day Ceremony

Saint Theresa School would like to recognize and express our gratitude for the men and women who have served our country. We would be honored to have you as our guest and to celebrate your service alongside our students, staff, and families at our Veterans Day Ceremony on November 11, at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Theresa School. Please complete this form by November 5 to reserve your place. Contact Debra Moffatt with questions. Thank you for your service, sacrifice, and dedication to our country. We hope you will join us as we proudly celebrate you this Veterans Day.

Ski Club

Join the Saint Theresa Ski Club! Students ages 7 to 18 are invited to join Saint Theresa School for "Slope Days." This multi-week lift/lesson/rental program begins on Friday, January 15. Lift tickets are valid from 3:00 p.m. until close, and lessons begin at 5:00 p.m. Two to four parent volunteers are needed; no ski experience required. Register by December 10. See more information, including how to register, here. Contact Andrea Maurice with questions. See you on the slopes!

Stocking Stuffers for our Sister Parish

Through October 14, the Respect Life Club is collecting small stocking stuffer items--small toys, pencils, fancy pens, individually wrapped candy, fidgets, rubber balls, jacks, playing cards, crayons, small coloring books, small dolls, mini books, etc. All items should be new. Donations benefit our sister parish in Louisa, Kentucky.

The Little Way Challenge

Thank you to everyone who participated in and supported the Little Way Challenge! Together, we hit our goal and raised more than $20,000! If you didn’t turn in your completed passport today, please send it to school by Monday, October 5. Be sure your name is on it so you receive credit! Our Grand Prize winners will be announced by Friday, October 9.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parents should have been offered a way to sign up for conferences from their child's teacher(s) which are scheduled for Friday, October 9. This is a great opportunity to hear about your student's progress in school. Students will not report for school on that day and are not part of the conference session.

Family Night Out at the Hershey Bears

What better way to kick off Discover Catholic Schools Week than a Saint Theresa Family Night Out at the Hershey Bears? Join us Sunday, November 15 at 3:00 p.m. as the Bears take on the Charlotte Checkers at the GIANT Center. It’s Kids Night, and the first 3,000 kids ages 15 and under will receive a knit hat courtesy of Belco.

All seating sections are open, and ticket prices vary by section. If you’d like to sit near other Saint Theresa families, we’re aiming for the 100 Level Defend Zone, Sections 109–113. After selecting your seats, you can add a parking pass for $17.60 (typically $35.00). Get your tickets here. We hope to see lots of Saints cheering on the Bears!

Bring a Trunk to Trunk or Treat!

Our class trunks are coming together, and we’d love to give the kids even more trunks to visit during our two-hour event! If your family would like to decorate a trunk of your own and hand out treats, please sign up here. You don’t need to be a room parent to join in—just come ready for some Halloween fun!

Help Us Fill Our Float with Treats!

The New Cumberland Halloween Parade is a few weeks away, and we’re getting ready for another fun night representing Saint Theresa School in our community! To make sure our float has plenty of treats to hand out along the parade route, we need your help stocking up on candy.

If you’d like to help, please use the sign-up link below to donate a bag (or two!) of candy. Every donation helps us get parade-ready and makes the night a little sweeter! Sign up today to donate candy for the New Cumberland Halloween Parade!

Spiritual Reflection by Father Sawicki

Dear STS Family,

Yesterday our school and parish family celebrated the feast of our patroness, St. Theresa of the Infant Jesus. What a beautiful Mass – the singing was uplifting, and I am so happy that so many of our classrooms had their own feast day celebrations and devotions. May the “Little Flower” intercede for all of our children!

In our Catholic tradition, this weekend brings another milestone occasion as we celebrate the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi. This man was raised in a comfortable family – today he’d probably be considered ‘upper middle class’ – after trying for fame and glory as a soldier in a crusade he realized the emptiness of earthly fame. While in prayer before a beautiful crucifix in a rundown chapel dedicated to Saint Damian, he heard God tell him, “Francis, rebuild my Church.” While his first impulse was to literally rebuild the walls, he came to realize he was called to serve God’s people in humility and simplicity. By the time of his death he counted 10,000 brothers – friars – who were living as he did. Francis loved creation, and so in his honor on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. on the lawn in front of the parish office on Pine Street we will have our annual blessing of animals – I hope you come!

On November 1st when our first grade students dress up as their favorite saints, Francis of Assisi is always well-represented. Whether it is because a brown bathrobe goes a long way or because his life is so inspirational, I cannot say. But what we can say is that St. Francis is a great model for all of us!

THANK YOU to Molly Jensen and her team for making our annual Golf Outing such a success!

Have a great weekend!

Fr. Sawicki

Stellar Saints

Congratulations to everyone who entered this year’s New Cumberland Apple Festival Apple Pie Contest! We had ten of our very own Saints participate: Ellie Bauer, Peyton Bauer, Laura Ebersole, Clifford Jensen, Eden Jensen, Joey Kubisiak, Natalie Kubisiak, Sarah LaCour, Adalynn Lewis, and Dominic Lewis,

A special congratulations to Adalynn Lewis (3rd grade) for taking home first place and Ellie Bauer (8th grade) for earning second place! We look forward to recognizing all ten students at our pep rally in November during Discover Catholic Schools Week. Each participant will also be entered for a chance to win a $50 Dave & Buster’s gift card.

We had a three-way tie for the most pie entries! Miss Sutch’s, Mrs. Kaufold’s, and Mr. Morrissey’s classes will all receive a sweet treat of their choosing to enjoy together. Way to go, Saints!

What a day at the STS Scholarship Golf Outing! Thank you to all of our sponsors and golfers for making today’s event such a success. And a huge thank you to everyone who came out to help--your time and support mean so much to our school community! Click here for some pictures!

On September 29, the 8th graders participated in a full-day program called Unfiltered-Truth, presented by Morning Star Pregnancy Services. This program lays the foundation for healthy and rewarding relationships by teaching wise decision-making, effective communication, and real-life relationship strategies. The goal is to help students better understand themselves so they can build healthy friendships. By learning these skills early, they will be better equipped to avoid negative dating situations in the future.
