No All School Mass

There will be no All School Mass on Friday, October 23 due to Parent/Teacher Conferences.

Optional daily Mass tomorrow, October 21. All are welcome! Mass starts at 7:10 and ends at 7:40. It’s in the All Saints Chapel every Wednesday before school. What a beautiful way to start the day by worshiping the Lord!

Works of Mercy - All Are Welcome!

Please join us at Memorial Oaks Cemetery (13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079) on Saturday, November 7th, from 8:30–10:00 a.m. We will gather and go out together to place flags on the graves of Veterans in preparation for Veterans Day. Please bring a screwdriver to help make holes in the ground for the flags.

We will also take time to pray for all the souls who have passed away, and an opportunity to receive a plenary indulgence during this special time of prayer. To obtain this indulgence, you must be in a state of grace, go to confession, receive communion, and pray for the intentions of the Pope.

Please fill out the Sign-Up Genius!

Season of Remembrance

As we enter this special season, we invite our StJPII community to participate in two beautiful traditions of the Church.

October: The Saints

During October, we remember the saints, our heavenly friends and intercessors, and ask them to pray for us and help us grow closer to Christ.

  • Please submit your student’s patron saint using the Saint Litany Submission Form.
  • We will create a Litany of Saints for each classroom to use in prayer.
  • A special Mass will be celebrated for our school community asking these saints to intercede for our students, families, and school.

November: The Faithful Departed

November is a special time to remember and pray for our loved ones who have died.

Thank you to our Moms Club for helping our school community participate in these meaningful traditions of prayer and remembrance.

Thank You To Our Vocations Day Volunteers!

We had an incredible Vocations Day! A huge thank you to all the wonderful moms who volunteered to help Mrs. Yohr. They welcomed our speakers, provided coffee and breakfast items, and helped serve a delicious lunch. Some even prepared food and delightful desserts. We are especially grateful to Jenny Hoang, Dung Dinh, Amanda DeBroeck, Jasmine Olea, Meghan Waldrup, Marguerite Ogden, Angela Downey, Maria Gobea, Angela Dumas, Ashley Ranson, Sophia Evans, and Liz Clark. We truly appreciate each of them. We would also like to thank our ECI staff for contributing to the meal we provided for the speakers. Thank you to the Artisan Class for making the gifts we gave to the speakers.

LSU WEEK COMING SOON

The LSU Tigers will be taking over StJPII during the week of November 2 as part of our Ultimate Fan Duel! Thanks to the Vreedenburgh-Hebert family, who won naming rights at last year’s gala, we’ll be showing our Tiger spirit throughout the week. Keep an eye out for the LSU flag by the front office, and listen for some LSU music over the PA each morning.

On Wednesday, November 4, students may wear their LSU shirts (or purple shirts or a StJPII spirit shirt) with their regular uniform bottoms.

STEPS FOR STUDENTS - WE'RE MAKING HISTORY!

DID YOU KNOW?! All Steps donations and registration fees (except a small Archdiocesan administrative fee) come right back to StJPII! Your participation makes a BIG difference for our school!

WE DID IT! We reached our first goal of 860 registrations! Now we’re going for 1,000 - and no school in the Archdiocese has ever reached four-digit registration numbers! We only need 140 MORE to make history. Let’s show everyone what StJPII spirit looks like!

We’ve celebrated our milestones with gift card giveaways for middle school, gift baskets, a $50 Perry’s gift card for one lucky family, and 14 homerooms winning a pizza lunch or ice cream sundae bar! Special shout-out to our 5th-grade homerooms, who all reached their goal, and to Ms. Fama and Mrs. Sudkamp for achieving 100% participation! Their classes celebrated with donuts last week.

There’s still time to join the fun! Everyone who registers receives one free-dress day per month from November through February. Come out and show your school spirit—or choose the Snooze for Students option if you’d rather support us from home! And 8th graders, this is one of your last all-school events at StJPII, so we’d LOVE to see you there!

Registration options start as low as $15 until October 29. Help us reach 1,000 and make StJPII history!

There are plenty of books to see, and we hope that all students will be able to shop for a book that they can be excited about!  The book fair will be open 10/19/26 - 10/23/26 from 7:40 am to 3:00 pm except for Tuesday when we have early release. On Friday, October 23rd, please plan to visit the book fair with your child before or after your parent/teacher conference! The last call for shoppers will be Monday, October 26th between the hours of 7:40 am and 3:00 pm. Your support of our school book fair helps build our reading community by bringing new books to our library and classrooms, as well as getting kids excited about the books they are going to bring home. The money raised at the fair will help ensure we can purchase current, quality materials for the library.

Every purchase matters, in person or online via our school link: https://literati.com/store/?school=saint-john-paul-ii-catholic-school-houston-tx

Happy Reading, and thank you for supporting our school at the Literati Book Fair!

Ms. James

A message about our book fair:

When a fair arrives, we always walk through each cabinet and remove suspicious material that does not reflect our values as a Catholic school. It is not possible to read every book in the fair; however, if you find materials that are unsuitable, please reach out to Ms. James, and we will remove these items. Thank you for working with us to create an inviting and suitable environment for our students to choose quality reading materials reflective of our faith.
