Dear St. John Paul II Families,

Wow! I can't believe it's already May 1st. We are on the home stretch and I'm looking forward to our First Friday Mass with our beautiful May Crowning tradition later this week. Speaking of traditions, last week after Mass, we honored 7th and 8th graders with a Leadership Ceremony. Each 8th grade student ceremoniously presented a special medal to each 7th grader, symbolizing their transition into next year's campus leaders. It's a moving rite of passage we look forward to as a community each year.

Here is the prayer that blessed our 7th and 8th graders:

Dear God, please feed these young men and women God with your wisdom and your understanding. Let them recognize and take this opportunity to be Christ like leaders. I pray that they each will be blessed by You and be a blessing to others. Thank you God for guiding them every step of the way.

As you take on new leadership here at StJPII, may you be an inspired leader in the lives of others. May you allow God to be your leader as He guides you to be an example for others. To our 7th graders as new leaders and our 8th graders moving on to high school, may God bless you now and always. Amen.

As another year is about to come to an end, I am reminded of how far each of us has grown since August. And while some things tend to change at the speed of light, some things do remain the same. I was touched by a parent who sent me a copy of one of our original school newsletters. While our communications have come a long way, the values we hold dear remain. Click here for the link to the early newsletter edition, paying special attention to "The ABC's of Helping Your Child" which after 30 years, still apply to our lives today.

In Him,
