Dear Saint Families,
Happy November! It was a blessing to celebrate All Saints Day last week and see our youngest saints dressed as Saints in Heaven! Their presentations in the classrooms were spectacular, congratulations to all Kindergartners!
This week, you should be receiving an email to the parent portal login to see updated grades. The access will be easier and more familiar. If you have any trouble logging in, please contact
Mary Raymond. After Thanksgiving, you will begin to see teacher postings on the site sharing updates and highlights. We truly do appreciate your patience and support.
Next week will be a big week on campus as we welcome our grandparents and special friends! We look forward to outstanding performances from all our students.
In Him,

Annual Fund update
Great news!
100% of the Faculty and Staff have donated to the Annual Fund! This shows that your beloved teachers are fully committed to the mission of StJPII. To date, we’ve raised $131,000 towards our $550,00 goal, with just 24% of our families participating. Please help us cross the finish line and donate to the Annual Fund! Gifts given to the Annual Fund support our mission and provide the extra margin of excellence not afforded by tuition. Save the date for "
SaintsGiving" on Giving Tuesday, November 27 and visit

AIM Presentation Follow-up
Dr. Weinman and Mrs. Hartfiel had a chance to meet with 8th graders last week regarding how their 2nd quarter goals could relate to measurable, Catholic opportunities for selflessness that align to StJPII’s Fischer and Saints Awards. Students were presented with acts of random/radical kindness grids that challenged each to put themselves second and demonstrate Saintly actions when no one is looking. Socratic conversation revealed a call for action including, but not limited to being upstanders, shifting negative to positive, expressing gratitude, and the power of forgiveness. We look forward to hearing stories from students on their progress this quarter and becoming truth behind strong winds.

Have you ever seen a kid just crumble at the first hint of difficulty? More teachers are noticing this and are pointing out the tremendous need for their students to develop resiliency and determination.
I recently watched a mom at a park, hovering near her toddler who was attempting to climb a short flight of steps to a slide. As soon as the little guy paused and struggled to get his foot up to the bottom step (which was designed for toddlers), Mom swooped over and lifted him to the top of the steps. Then she waited at the bottom, reassuring him all the while. Fortunately, Mom was soon distracted by one of her other kids “needing help” and before she realized it, the boy was ascending the steps and sliding down like a pro. Good news for that little boy’s resilience development.
We know kids are going to go through some struggle in life and that is a good thing. We also know there won’t always be someone there to solve all their problems or verbally coddle them.
The abilities to 1) manage unfavorable events and to 2) continue with challenging tasks are top predictors of success in many areas (including academics and relationships). We must not rob kids of the gift of struggle – a crucial ingredient in the resiliency formula.
One of the easiest ways to begin developing resiliency with children is simply asking them how they are going to handle problems. Resisting our urge to quickly solve the problem for them or tell them what to do, we can make a soft, empathetic sound and ask, “Hmm, what do you think you’re going to do?”
Just the act of thinking about solutions begins the powerful process of owning and solving problems. We want kids to believe solutions don’t have to come from an outside source, but can come from inside. Whether they come up with great solutions or not, just the act of wrestling with the problem will begin to strengthen their “resiliency muscles.”
We encourage you to run this simple experiment any time you see your child encounter a minor problem or struggle. See if you notice a difference in their willingness to solve problems and attack challenges. We would love to hear your results.

Did you know....
that last year at this time, our school was blessed to share in the Veneration of the Official Relic of the Blood of St. John Paul II. The Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary travel the country during the year of the Centenary of the Apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima.
Did you also know that our school is home to several relics belonging to other saints as well? Next time you visit the Library look in the book cases for St. Pius X, St. Frances X. Cabrini and St. John Vianney. Additionally, the All Saints Chapel is home to relics of St. John Paul II and St. Jude.
