January ended up being way more busy than I ever expected! So many new yarns arrived in the shop and I had weekend events planned in coordination with the Morro Bay Bird Festival and the Cambria Art and Wine Festival.

I managed to complete some beautiful knitting projects (featured below). I also took out my sewing machine and had some fun with a new fabric featuring yarn balls making cushion covers for the shop.

Uniquely Ball & Skein

Towards the end of 2024, I placed several orders for custom products for the shop and it's been so exciting to see these new products arrive over the past week!

I started off with a custom colorway from Dream in Color in the 3 yarn bases (Smooshy Cashmere, Cosette, and Classy). I sent them a photo of the Moonstone Beach Boardwalk and I was delighted to see the Moonstone Beach Custom Colorway come to life So far, I've only knit a modified version of the Traveler Hat with the Classy yarn, but my mind is swirling with so many more projects and new patterns using the other bases. Stay tuned for those!

And I have become a huge fan of the Della Q Oh Snap bags (especially for all of the colorwork I do), so I could not resist designing an Oh Snap bag with Beverly and the shop logo on the front!

The Primo Cardigan featuring Herriot Great

I started knitting ~40 years ago because I love sweaters, and I continue to be a prolific sweater knitter. Last week I finished my 4th sweater of 2025...the Primo Cardigan in Herriot Great! Herriot Great is an incredibly soft 100% Alpaca heavy worsted yarn. I loved working with it and love my new cardi! I used 7 skeins of color #138 Cerulean for size C in standard length.

I've been busy doodling on some beanies with locally hand dyed yarns from Smirligans and created 2 new kits to share with you.

I’ve always been a huge sunflower fan, so I started with the Sunflower Beanie Kit using the Smirligans Seaside Wooly Sunflower color way.

The Morro Bay Bird Festival pop-up event inspired me to create the Morro Bay Bird Festival Beanie Kit using the Smirligans Pink Headed Warbler color way.

Each kit includes and the yarn and the pattern.

I had so much fun spending the day with Heather, our local Central Coast indie dyer Smirligans, for the Morro Bay Bird Festival Pop-up event! I completely fell in love with all of her new colorways and I hope you do too.
