Saiyara Fahmi is sixteen years old and a senior at Hopkins School in New Haven, CT. During her sophomore year at Hopkins, Saiyara Co-founded a Greetings for Global Change, a community-service art club. The students in the club make original greeting cards, bookmarks, and postcards, which are sold throughout the year. All profits go to Pencils of Promise, an organization that works for childrens education throughout the world.Through her club, Saiyara has raised over one thousand dollars for charity.
At school, Saiyara is part of the advanced art studio class and enjoys working with a variety of mediums. Outside of school, Saiyara enjoys painting and taking watercolor lessons from Audrey Galer in Orange. She has presented her work annually with Mrs. Galer's students at the Case Memorial Library in Orange. She has won Best of Show in the children's division of the 2011 Orange County Fair and First Place in the adult division of the 2012 Orange County Fair. In addition to showing her work at the Davis Gallery, she will also be showing at the Orange Town Hall Gallery later this year.
