UPcycle that Wine! October 7, 2010
6:30pm - 9:00pm
The cabernet is long gone, and you haven't made it to recycling day
yet... so, melt that baby down! Yes, you can learn to clean, cut
(or break safely) and make free-form and mandrel-wound beads from
many bottles that we use every day! This is a great way to create
a keepsake from a memorable evening! This class is inspired by
Ashley Newhard, who used to work next door and made some very
pretty beads from found bottles on her bicycle ride to work! Some
glass working experience beneficial, but not necessary.
Supplies you need to
bring - one bottle (empty, please)
Optional to bring
- 28 or 30 ga fine silver wire; silver or gold leaf
Class Fee: $60
Clearly, an
Experiment!
October 16, 2010
4:00 pm - 7:00
pm
Tired of scum on your clear glass? Work hands on with several of
the different 104 COE clears on the market, and gain valuable
insight into where in the flame to melt your glass to prevent scum
and boiling. Peeling and encasing techniques will be discussed and
demonstrated, including how to use "wicking" to your advantage and
create some really neat effects!
Materials fee: TBA
Class fee: $70

Top Ten Reasons to shop
here!
(Well, five reasons
today..)

10. Color swatches- Did
you know there are over 750 different colors of glass here? We
have been busy making paddles on a rod for each color.. time
consuming, but this way, you can see just what it looks like when
you're choosing your next color combo for your fantastic glass
work, so you know exactly what color you are getting!
9.
Great Location - We share parking with the fabulous
Accents Beads, and are only a couple of minutes' walk away from
White Flint Metro station!
8.
We love your success!- We are so excited about how
talented our clients are! We are looking at dates for another
(successful) Trunk Show later on this fall to showcase the amazing
local (yet internationally recognized) talent we are so lucky to
know.
7.
Buy how much you want! - There are no 1/4 pound
minimums that you have to commit to here at Accents Glassworks (buy
as little as one rod)! We have labels for everything (although
some do run out from time to time) for ease of labelling too. If
you really dig that color rod, we don't impose a "maximum" of what
you can purchase either..
6. We love your
local groups!- We give a 15% discount (except Double Helix
glass) to active members of the SGB-MA and Frederick Hot Glass
Society. We run sales regularly as well! Get involved locally,
and save a bundle here!
