As you may know, it is the year of the cicada. Some of our customers have been wondering how to prevent damage from cicadas. Small, younger deciduous trees are most affected by this pest and the only way to really protect them is with netting. Click here to read our informational handout on cicadas to learn more. As we mentioned last week, we are now carrying Blooming Blessings Sprouted Dahlia Tubers. Here's a little more info about the grower:
Blooming Blessings are locally and lovingly grown by one of our very own Green Team members, Sharon Gordon! These tubers are grown in small, backyard batches. Strict sanitation, separation, and inspection practices are maintained throughout growing. Sharon is our Finance Manager here at HCG and she has always been an avid gardener, as well. Sharon grew her first Dahlia 13 years ago while in Jamaica. With lots of time invested, this is a passion project of Sharon’s and we are excited to be a part of it. More varieties coming soon! Father's Day Planters for Grilling Workshop

C.L. Fornari's In-Store Garden Consultations
In order to serve a larger number of our customers, gardening expert C.L. Fornari will be staffing an in-store Consultation Table most Fridays beginning in May and through the growing season. Customers can bring in photos of a specific location on their property for design suggestions, plants for identification, or problem solving. C.L. will be offering these free, 15 minute (or so) consultations from 9-12 and 12:30-3. These meetings are first-come-first served.
