A Community Collaborative to Meet Increased Demand for Food, Shelter & Utilities Assistance in Salem County During the 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is an unprecedented challenge.
The virus is especially hard on low-income
households & the working poor.
The Salem County Does More: COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund
is a community-based response to this challenge.
Our goal:
Alleviate the impact of COVID-19 on low-income children
and the working poor by supplementing and supporting
the ongoing efforts of government, school systems
and social service agencies.

Our strategy:
Community outreach to quickly raise funds and solicit goods and services necessary to support this goal. Release funds in a coordinated fashion as quickly as possible .

Our approach :
Work collaboratively to identify gaps in service.
Develop plans to close gaps.
Generate incremental resources to close those gaps.
Reach out to the business community, private donors, and others.
Provide help to cope with the expected increase in demand.
Avoid duplication of effort among nonprofit agencies.

The fund was created by United Way of Delaware Board of Directors and a
subcommittee, the Salem County Advisory Committee
comprising representatives from these companies:

Atlantic City Electric
Chemours
DuPont
Mannington Mills, Inc.
Pepco Holdings
Salem County Chamber of Commerce

Thanks to the generous support of the Salem County community,
the following partners have received funding
totaling more than $20,000:
