Certified Compostable Bags

Composting with Black Earth?

Be sure your bin bags are

Certified Compostable!

Good choices include:

  • Black Earth's certified compostable bags
  • Brown paper grocery bags (for when the temperature is consistently above freezing)
  • Bags certified compostable by BPI, TUV, or CMA and sold by brands such as BioBag, EcoSafe, Repurpose & UNNI. The certification logo is printed on each bag!

Be careful if you're ordering from Amazon. Some brands fraudulently include certifications in their product descriptions or on their packaging.

Get more information on the Black Earth Compost website.

Grocery store produce bags look compostable,

but most are NOT. Look for the certification logo!

Halloween Costumes

Reuse = BOO-tiful!

You can pick up a preloved costume for a bargain! Select something gently used from an online provider like Poshmark, or -- better yet -- shop in person at a local community event. Swampscott's Gently Used Costume Sale is happening Wednesday evenings through the end of the month. Details below!

Tip of the Month

Bring Your Own Cup!

This pumpkin spice season, practice RE-USE and ask if you can use your own mug. Many local coffee shops, such as Howling Wolf and On the Grind, will be happy to fill your cup.

At Starbucks, they'll give you 25 Rewards stars and 10¢ off your order!

October WM Calendar
