Hello 4-H Family,

How is it already February? Along with Valentine's Day we have several activities happening this month and the following months, so please check out the "Important Dates and Deadlines" section below so you do not miss anything.

Thank you to all the 4-Hers who turned in a Record Book those have been submitted. Good luck to all!

Please be patient as our new enrollment system is NOT ready yet but will be soon. I will send out an announcement when it is ready.

Deadline to sign up for contest is February 24, 2023. Please call the office to sign up.

Poultry BBQ Contest

The 4-H Poultry BBQ Contest is open to all 4-H members. The contest will be held on Saturday March 4, 2023 at the Extension Office parking lot.

Contestants set up their grills, tables, etc. starting at 9:30 am with the contest starting at 10:00 am.

Contestants choose to grill either chicken halves or turkey filets when they call to sign up. For more information please call the Extension Office.

First, second, and third place winners will be awarded prizes. The top 3 seniors and top 2 juniors in each category will advance to the District level Poultry BBQ Contest.

Deadline to sign up for contest is April 7, 2023. Please call the office to sign up.

2023 Dairy Foods Contest

The Dairy Foods Contest is a Farm Bureau sponsored event and will be held on Thursday April 20, 2023 starting at 6:00 pm at the Saline County Extension office.

The contest is open to youth ages 9-19 years old. There are two categories: Main Dish or Party Idea. 4-Hers may enter either categories or both.

The night of the contest the participates will bring their prepared dish along with a copy of their recipe to the contest. Each contestant will present their dish or dishes to the judges. The judges will ask questions and taste the dishes. If you have any questions or for more information please call me at the office.

First, second, and third place winners will be awarded prizes. First place winners in each category will be submitted to Farm Bureau for the State Contest.

Ross Photography Contest

This contest provides an opportunity for Arkansas 4-H'ers to demonstrate, compete and exhibit their photography skills. All 4-H members age 9-19 are eligible. At the county level, each 4-H member may enter two color photographs (one must be in the living category and one must be in the non-living category - if two are entered) and two black-and-white photographs (one must be in the living category and one must be in the non-living category, if two are entered). Four county winners are selected from those entries, one in each category – these will be submitted to the state level.

Entries should be email to kdraper@uada.edu by March 31, 2023. Please include the category with each picture.
