American Rescue Plan Act Funding Update

Of the $10.5 million in Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funds awarded to Saline County under the American Rescue Plan Act, more than $1.5 million has been spent to date. But over $4.5 million is now under contract and more than $8.3 million has been earmarked for defined programs.

This means the focus of work is shifting from decisions about how to deploy the funds to monitoring and reporting on the actual expenditure of funds. County staff have worked with our federal compliance consultants to set up a portal that allows our more than three dozen contractors, vendors and subrecipients to easily report progress and request reimbursements. Financial reports are posted on the County's ARPA webpage quarterly as reports are turned in to the U.S. Treasury.

On November 22, County Commissioners approved purchase of a new communication and public input tool to provide even more transparency into spending of these federal dollars. This new tool should be deployed by the beginning of 2023.

One of the signature programs for Business Recovery funded through the County's ARPA Framework Plan is the Choose Saline County app. If you download the app and link a credit or debit card, money you spend at participating local businesses will earn you Saline Stars that can be redeemed at local redeeming businesses just like cash. Through today only, a Black Friday/Small Business Saturday promotion allows you to earn 33% of eligible purchases back in Saline Stars. Please support local businesses as you do your holiday shopping.

Thank you for your continued interest and stay tuned for more details.
