Saline County, Kansas, August 2, 2024 – Saline County continues to provide support to residents affected by the recent severe wind event. As recovery operations progress, county officials are prioritizing assistance for those still impacted by the storm. The disaster emergency proclamation remains in effect, and the county is committed to ensuring the well-being of all residents.
Free To-Go Box Meals for Residents Without Power
Saline County Emergency Management has a limited number of meal vouchers available for residents who remain without power. If your home is still without power and you need a meal this evening, please come to the Emergency Management office, 255 N. 10th St., Salina, between 1:30 and 5:00 p.m. today (or while supplies last). Enter through the circle drive located at the intersection of Park St. and N. 10th St. Upon arrival, call 785.833.7597, and a staff member will bring your vouchers to you. Vouchers are valid for today only, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
Due to limited resources, we are unable to deliver vouchers or meals. We encourage residents to check in on friends and neighbors who may also need assistance.
City-Wide Limb Pickup
The City of Salina continues its city-wide limb pickup to help clear debris from the storm. Residents are urged to place limbs and branches curbside for collection. For additional details CLICK HERE.
Cooling Shelter and Charging Stations
The Saline County Health Department, located at 125 W. Elm St., is open to the public as a cooling shelter and a place to charge medical devices. The lobby will remain open until 4:30 p.m. today. For more information, please call 785.826.6600.
The Salina Public Library, located at 301 W. Elm St., also invites residents to cool off and enjoy its free Wi-Fi and charging stations until 6 p.m. today.
Debris Cleanup Assistance
Chainsaw teams from the Kansas-Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists Disaster Relief and Team Rubicon continue to assist with limb and debris cleanup. Currently, 125 homes are on the list for this service, and due to limited resources, no additional homes can be added at this time.
Insurance Assistance
The Kansas Department of Insurance is available to assist residents with insurance-related questions or issues. They can be reached at 800.432.2484.
