Third Grade Portraits
We are so impressed with the third-grade portraits on display outside Dave and Talia's classrooms. The vibrant colors and family messages are inspiring. To collect information for the portraits, Dave and Talia developed a family questionnaire that students took home and discussed with their families. Next, they took close-up photos of all students. Once printed, students traced their portrait in pencil and then traced again with a Sharpie. Students selected pastels and added color in different parts of their face, including their hair and upper body. Afterwards, students chose four of the most important or meaningful parts of their family questionnaire answers and wrote those on the border of their portrait frame

Tiny People Building Tiny Homes
A group of Salmon Bay middle school students are building a tiny home!
They've organized the project, raised funds, developed a plan and now they are ready to build. They are inviting you to build with them!
The building process will take place at the Pacific Studios parking lot (5311 Shilshole Ave NW) on Sundays from 10 am - 3 pm. For more information or to volunteer, check out their signup page.

Ari's HR Piano Class looking Keyboards
In Ari's homeroom, people who are good at things teach classes to their peers who want to learn from them. Three piano students currently share one piano in the auditorium, but it would be helpful if they had multiple keyboards so they could practice in their homeroom near the other classes. We would love to borrow 2-3 keyboards for the remainder of the year. After the class is finished in June, the keyboards will be returned.
Contact Ari with questions. Thank you!

From Admin

Dear Salmon Bay Community,

Welcome to December and the spirit of the season!  We have a lot going on in our community around giving and helping others, and it has been beautiful to continue to witness the generosity of our families.  Thank you so much for all you do to help all our students at Salmon Bay with your time, energy, donations, and various supports.  Because of you, our village continues to thrive.

As you look around the halls this month, and before you are off on break, please take a minute to view the portraits outside of each K-5 classroom.  All students in Kindergarten through Fifth grade worked on a "Who Am I?" project to learn about themselves and where they come from, as well as share who they are to their classmates.  Teachers have worked hard to align this work as a K-5, so that all students at Salmon Bay feel known and valued.

With gratitude,

The Admin Team (Annie, Darren, and Neil)
