Camp Week
It was much more quiet on campus this week with our 5th, 7th and 8th grade students on their class camp trips. We are looking forward to hearing their camp stories and welcome any feedback you'd like to pass along.

NatureBridge
Our 7th grade students kicked off the week with an early  Monday morning departure for NatureBridge, located on beautiful Lake Crescent.  Students and staff alike were all smiles as they enjoyed the many activities at camp.

Camp Orkila
Monday was the day to load bikes and gear for the 8th grade camp trip to Orkila. A special shout out to our volunteer bike techs who helped ensure that everyone's bikes were ready to go... Peter Probst, Trent Siegel (not pictured), John Owen, Paul Steele and Justine Park (not pictured).

Students choose if they want to bike from the ferry dock to camp. Here's a photo of our bike group departing from the ferry!

Living Computer Museum
Second grade students visited the Living Computer Museum this week and had a chance to program line robots!

Salmon Bay Sports
Salmon Bay Boys Soccer Champs!
We wanted to share this photo of our championship soccer team!

Garden Work Party Tomorrow!
Saturday, June 8th, 9am-12pm
Join us for one last work party to get our entire school looking good and ready to fend off weeds for the summer.  Lots of hands make for light work! Plan is to mulch the east and west side of the school. We will have tools and wheelbarrows available as well as water and snacks. RSVP here. It helps immensely with planning.

Thank you!!

Great News!
With restoration of funds from the state and district, we are planning to have 5 teachers on the K/1 team next school year (return to status quo staffing).  Jenny Melnick will teach our K/1 multi-age and Amy and Gabi will be our kindergarten team.  Anna Lindberg will be out for the first part of the year, and we are seeking a leave replacement teacher for her class to start the year at 1st grade with Anna anticipating returning after the winter break.   Bre Miller (currently K) is out next year on leave, and Jennie Bender has agreed to work in a long-term role for us for Bre.  We are excited she was willing to take on this role and join our team!

Attention 4th Grade Families:
At Salmon Bay, it has been a tradition that 4th grade parents "pay it forward" by serving cake and punch at the 5th grade promotion. Next year, you'll have a chance to celebrate while another team of parents serves cake and punch to you.  Are you planning to come to 5th grade Promotion? Would you be willing to help slice and serve cake? Please email Jodi if you can help.

Luna Calendars Are Here!
Did you order one of the Luna calendars created by Xena's class? You can pick it up next week in Jodi's office!

FOSB volunteer needs for the 2019-2020 school year
We still have open leadership positions and we need family support to make this organization work. Please contact  [email protected]  if you're interested in getting involved next year.

After School Program Committee: This committee finds and organizes after-school programs for Salmon Bay students, including determining the programming for each quarter and managing registration. This is a great work-from-home opportunity that you can flex to your schedule. Two or three volunteers are needed.

At-Large/Apprentice Treasurer: FOSB's treasurers are looking for an additional volunteer to join them next year. If you have budget or finance experience, are interested in gaining some, or just want to learn how FOSB's fundraising and budget process works, consider being a part of this important team.

Co-Chair: FOSB's co-chairs serve as meeting facilitators, collaborators, and advocates for families, students, and staff. We have an experienced co-chair returning to FOSB next year in the middle school co-chair role. If you have an elementary student and want to be more active in their school experience, this could be the role for you!

Committees: FOSB has many committees that are looking for additional participation. Consider joining the Parent Information Exchange (PIE), GardenCommittee, Legislative Committee, Funding Equity Committee (looking for a chair to continue), and more. Check out www.friendsofsalmonbay.org for more information about committees or contact [email protected].
