Salmon Are Safe
In the midst of shutting down school on Wednesday, Annie Parker and Brian Williamson made sure our salmon were transported safely to the imprint pond at Carkeek Park. Thanks to Annie and Brian for caring for these small members of our community!

K-5 Play

K-5 Play Completion
Our After School Drama Committee deserves an award for their leadership, determination  and amazing efforts in providing students an opportunity to perform the K-5 play. Upon learning that the play performances would need to be canceled, a plan was quickly developed and executed to videotape the production on Wednesday (just as school was closing).

Thank you to everyone who volunteered to support our young actors and worked to provide them with this culminating opportunity.  And kudos to our amazing cast and crew who kept a positive attitude and rolled with it! Just another example of Salmon Bay at its best!

Save the Date

Our school auction has been rescheduled to October 23rd! Please save the date and plan to join us next fall.

And, virtual auction fun continues on instagram and Facebook
Follow @SalmonBaySchoolAuction for new announcements and behind the scenes moments as the auction team moves Woodstock to October 23rd.

FOSB News & Events
Friends of Salmon Bay (FOSB) is our
parent teacher organization.

Big thanks to everyone that helped reschedule an auction, shut down a school, manage many a crises, and care for our community. It's been amazing to see people step up and ask how to help. Please reach out if you need support.

With the auction being pushed to next fall, several people have asked about additional giving opportunities.  We are currently planing  some kind of direct giving campaign when school's open again to fill any budget gaps. We'll also be looking into conducting FOSB business virtually over the coming weeks. Please stay tuned as we navigate these uncharted waters.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee
Salmon Bay EDI is a collective of Salmon Bay parents that strives to collaboratively promote a lens of equity and diversity to create a holistically happy community.

All EDI events are currently being rescheduled or restructured when possible. During the school closure, we encourage you to seek opportunities to support families and small businesses in need. If you need assistance finding needed help, please reach out to  [email protected]  and we will do our best to connect you with available assistance.

Counselor's Corner

We are amazed at the outpouring of support for our Salmon Bay community members in need.  Rob and I have reached out to many families and are fielding needs as they arise.  Please reach out to one of us if you are in need of support (food, clothing, rent, utilities, other) and we will do our best to match you with members of the community who are able to help.  Just last night, one family offered to support another family who needed help with a rent payment.  We have gift cards that we can deliver to you as well.

During this time of unknown, here are some things you can do at home to help your kids (and yourself) feel more stable:
  • Set a schedule for each day- and post it somewhere visible.  The schedule can be in word or picture form (for early readers).  This helps us know what to expect and to have structure for our day.
  • Maintain regular sleeping and eating patterns.
  • Get outside every day. Exercise.
  • Give your kids your undivided attention- put away screens and other distractions for a duration of time.
  • Help your kids connect with their peers- Zoom or other online meeting tools work great for this.
  • Spend time thinking and talking about things you are thankful for.
  • Find ways to give to others- family, friends, neighbors, or strangers.
  • Reach out if you need help.

Rob and I will continue to monitor our email.  Please reach out if you need support.
Warmly,

Jenny Brooks, K-5 Counselor

Rob Bright, 6-8 Counselor
