What's New at Gold Ridge?

Salmon Creek School Water Conservation and Rainwater Catchment

Construction is well underway on the Salmon Creek School Streamflow Enhancement Project.

The project will result in a substantial reduction in the amount of water drawn from Salmon Creek School’s main water source, a shallow alluvial well located adjacent to the creek.

The project includes measures to conserve water used to irrigate the school’s athletic field, and its centerpiece is a rainwater catchment system that includes a 517,000-gallon concrete cistern for water storage. Rainwater will be collected from the roofs of several buildings on the campus, and stored rainwater will be used for dry season irrigation. The cistern will be partially underground, and its roof will double as a stage for school events. The project will allow the school to reduce the amount of water extracted from the well by up to 1.5 million gallons per year.

The Gold Ridge Resource Conservation District is seeking interested parties to fill a vacancy for Director. If selected for Director, the term of office is through December 2024. Appointees may seek re-appointment when the term expires. This is a volunteer organization, and Directors are not financially compensated for service.

The results of the 2021-2022 Sonoma County Agricultural Drought Survey may lead to additional assistance being made available to agricultural produces in Sonoma County. Please submit your completed survey by September 1, 2022

CAFF Funding

Has your farm been impacted by drought or wildfire?

Financial aid is now available as CAFF relaunches its California Family Farmer Emergency Fund, offering grants to those impacted by the past few wildfire seasons or to those currently facing hardship as result of this year's drought, especially small farms and those of limited means and from under-represented communities.
