Battleship Camp!

The Battleship camp is our annual grade 7 transitional camp. The vision of this camp revolves around the following three areas: upward – relationship with God, inward – relationship with yourself, and outward – relationship with family and friends. The theme of this year’s Battleship camp was: ‘Anchored in Christ'.
Every year we invite grade 7 learners of all the schools that we are involved in to camp with us. This year about 100 kids joined us at the S.O.S campsite in Villiersdorp as we set an entire weekend apart to ensure that the kids know how to stay anchored in Christ as they prepare for high school.
The Friday night kicked off with a message about the Father heart of God. Many of the boys on the camp were gripped by the powerful truth of this message. We had an amazing team of volunteers that consists of the various youth workers / youth pastors in our valley to introduce to the grade 7’s. We do this to ensure mentorship/discipleship during high school.

When we asked one of the boys if they would recommend this camp to anyone he replied and said that he would even send his own children one day. We stand in awe of what God has done. The love of God, purity, the work of Jesus on the cross and the wonder of spiritual family were the foundations that were built into the lives of this group.

Some good old fun and games, along with new friendships that were formed during the Friday night’s hot chocolate and bonfire, also marked this camp as a favourite for many.
We are happy to announce that during the month of October,
5 new facilitators joined the Salt & Light family! We had a three day
training for the Hope For Kids course that took place at our office in Paarl. The hope for kids training equips every facilitator to lead and disciple children in a fun and practical way.
Prayer Needs

  • For more facilitators - the more facilitators we can equip, the more schools and children we can reach
  • For God's protection over every school and person involved in the ministry
  • For wisdom and insight as we plan for 2018
