Vendor of the Week: Double Shovel Farm
Leslie Evenden of Double Shovel Farm in Haines started growing seven years ago with one garden plot, since then she has added one more every year. Leslie’s desire to be a farmer has been budding for many years since her friend said, “you have the energy for farming, and growing food is easy, you should try it!" In the past, she has had a community garden plot, and was a part of a collaborative group of farmers at the Sunshine Farm in Haines. She now grows in a geodome planted with tomatoes, tomatillos, peppers, squash and cucumbers. Almost everything at Double Shovel Farm is mulched with seaweed and compost they make on the farm.

Some of Leslie’s favorite dishes include chard and kale with farm fresh eggs for breakfast, a big garden salad for dinner, and roasted and juiced beets!

This week Double Shovel Farm is offering Bok Choy, Chamomile, Cilantro, Dill, Basil, Kale, Salad Mix, Rhubarb, and Swiss Chard.  Double Shovel Farm is a great place for inspiration – bring some of this fresh goodness home to your table!

Happy shopping!
