Fui elegida para servir en el consejo ejecutivo por primera vez durante la convención del 2016. Sabía que era una de las juntas que gobierna a la diócesis.
He aprendido que el consejo ejecutivo es responsable de la supervisión fiduciaria de la diócesis. Revisamos las solicitudes anuales de subvención de las congregaciones; otros grupos dentro de la estructura de la diócesis también revisan las solicitudes.
El consejo ejecutivo tiene varios subcomités. Algunos con los que estoy familiarizado son:
Comité de inversiones: revisa nuestras inversiones y se asegura de que seamos fiscalmente responsables de nuestros fondos.
Comité de Auditoría: se reúne anualmente con auditores externos para asegurarse de que estamos administrando nuestras finanzas de acuerdo con las normas contables reconocidas.
Comité de Iglesia Saludable: el comité de supervisión para la iniciativa de acoger al rebaño.
Sirvo en el comité de iglesias pequeñas. Este comité ya organizó una mesa redonda de iglesias pequeñas el cual fue bien recibida y permitió que las iglesias que se consideran pequeñas se unieran. Nos dimos cuenta de que no estamos solos y que la diócesis nos apoya. Nuestro comité está planeando la próxima mesa redonda.
Estar en el consejo ejecutivo me ha dado la oportunidad de comprender a la diócesis y las responsabilidades relacionadas con su gestión. Debido a que el consejo ejecutivo se reúne en diferentes iglesias cada mes, he visitado iglesias que nunca hubiera visitado de otra manera. Aprecio la diversidad de nuestra diócesis.
He conocido a tanta gente que nunca hubiera conocido; trabajamos juntos para cuidar a nuestros compañeros episcopales.
Hacemos el estudio de un libro como parte de nuestras reuniones mensuales que nos ayuda a crecer y, con suerte, a ser mejores líderes.
Fui nombrada primer vicepresidente el año pasado y volveré a servir en ese cargo el próximo año. Me siento honrada de que me hayan pedido que asuma este puesto junto con Joseph Jok, que se desempeña como segundo vicepresidente.
Servir en el consejo ejecutivo ha sido una experiencia que nunca hubiera pensado hacer antes de que me lo pidieran. ¡Era una oportunidad desconocida que tuve la bendición de hacer!
Las personas que he conocido y con las que sigo trabajando son servidores dedicados de Dios y de la diócesis. Estoy agradecido de haber respondido al llamado a servir y animo a cualquiera que sea llamado a responder como Isaías 6: 8 dice: “Entonces oí la voz del Señor que decía:“ ¿A quién enviaré? ¿Y quién irá por nosotros? ”Y yo dije:“ Aquí estoy. ¡Envíame! ”
