Our Family
Resident Opportunities
4th of July
Residents celebrated the 4th of July with red, white, and blue treats. They also enjoyed a special visit from our smiling Life Enrichment staff.
Birthdays
Celebrating birthdays has looked a little different for our residents and their families over the last few months. Although we have had to modify our celebration ways, we have ensured our residents still feel special on their special day, surrounded by friends and family.
Cycling Without Age
We are so blessed to be able to take full advantage of our trishaws with all of the beautiful weather we have had. Residents have been able to get out and enjoy the fresh, air bringing some joy during this pandemic. ABC6 News - KAALTV featured our Cycling Without Age program, click on the link below to read the story and watch the video.

Housing Community Leader Message
For those who I haven’t met I want to say hello and introduce myself. My name is Rachael Paddock and I am the new Housing Community Leader at Arbor Terrace. It’s unfortunate to say hello to you all virtually but I know someday we will all be able to meet face-to-face.

Here at Arbor Terrace we have recently renovated our independent living dining room. With new chairs, flooring, and dishware we are excited to share these improvements with the residents. In October, we hope to open the dining room for one person per table. We have continued to have our famous rolling happy hour every Thursday with staff going room to room. Arbor Terrace has also enjoyed performers each month in our memory care courtyard entertaining our residents at a distance.

I am so grateful for everyone’s patience so far during these crazy times. I know it has been hard not being able to see loved ones, celebrate birthdays and holidays with one another. Luckily we have amazing staff members organizing video calls and outdoor visits. We recently have also started the Essential Caregiver Program allowing loved ones to sign-up to provide care and companionship during this difficult time.

COVID-19 is hard and creating a lot challenges in regards to visits, dining and social engagement. We are trying to expand what we can with still following the Minnesota Department of Health guidelines.

I want to thank everyone for their patience and support through this period of separation.

Stay healthy and safe,
Rachael Paddock, LNHA

The WHAT and WHY of the SAMARITAN BETHANY FOUNDATION

So WHAT is the purpose of the Samaritan Bethany Foundation?  The Foundation is a 501 c(3) non-profit that is a ‘sibling’ to our sister non-profit, the Samaritan Bethany corporation. It exists to develop resources that supports the Samaritan Bethany mission. WHY? We exist to help the corporation ‘provide compassionate individual-directed care that enhances and strengthens the greater community’. We do that through the raising of funds.

COVID IMPACT: The cancellation of our Golf Classic due to COVID-19 has put a big gap in our 2020 fundraising efforts. We are working to close that gap by asking those who would have golfed with us, to make a donation instead. In 2019 the Golf Classic raised $30,000 that enabled us to kick-off our exciting Cycling Without Age program. With the issues we now face with COVID-19 we had hoped to use the proceeds from the 2020 Golf Classic to help with the various grants we give to Samaritan Bethany for the resident’s needs. Their needs definitely have not gone away; if anything, they have increased! We have been fortunate to have received a grant from the MN Dept. of Human Services to purchase communicative devices so the residents can talk to, and see, their loved ones (iPads, Fire, Galaxy Tab, etc). We also received a very generous contribution from the congregation of Zumbro Lutheran Church, (one of our seven church partners) for Virtual Reality headsets so our residents can have a ‘short-term escape’ from this COVID world! This all helps, but our residents still have needs, especially since they are having to isolate in their rooms and households. Things like activities, recreation, crafts, entertainment, special event days, and special foods/snacks, etc.

YOU can help our residents by making a donation today! Click on this link to DONATE NOW to support our mission during this pandemic!, or mail a check to Samaritan Bethany Foundation, 101 7th St. NW, Rochester, MN 55901

I would also ask you to invite your friends/family to help donate to our mission, and share our FaceBook posts with others: SamaritanBethanyFaceBook?!

SHOUT OUT to our amazing staff! I’d like to give staff special recognition of their work and let them know how much we appreciate all they do every day! Being a Senior Care Community, our staff takes care of the residents every hour of every day! They don’t just open the doors at 8:00 am and close at 5:00 pm – they are at work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Thank you for all you do!

2020 Golf Classic is now a Non-Virtual Event!

Many of you would have been with us at the 2020 Samaritan Bethany Golf Classic this summer. But due to COVID-19 we had to cancel the event! We missed you, and we hope you missed us!

While the Golf Classic will not be held in its traditional form this year, you can still support the cause it benefits – our residents, like Maridell pictured below!  You are invited to show your support for our residents this year by making a donation directly to Samaritan Bethany Foundation. We’ll cut straight to the chase. The loss of funding from this year’s Golf Classic will directly impact programs for our residents like Maridell. But you can make a difference for them with your contribution and help us continue to provide our residents, a caring home where each life has meaning and purpose.

We hope to see you in person at our 2021 Golf Classic on June 21st at Somerby Golf Club!
