Originating in the 2016 season, the Southern States Junior Classics Series (SSJC), founded by Jason Nall was introduced as a regional junior golf tour that brought competitive opportunities to juniors in the states of Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Kentucky. The tour prided itself on events that not only brought out the competitive nature of each player but focused on sportsmanship, being family-oriented, provided unique registration items and of course the famous Orange Jacket Ceremonies.
At the end of the 2020 season, the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship series (NB3 JGNC) team began operating SSJC with Jason Nall still heavily involved ensuring the tour remained in good hands. Founded in 2020, the NB3 JGNC is a two-tier qualifying system that culminates into an All-Girls & All-Boys National Championship featured on Golf Channel with two, 2-hour broadcasts. Each year, players play their way into the Championship which is hosted at Coushatta Resort in Louisiana every November.
Throughout the past two seasons, over 15 players have qualified through SSJC events to make it to the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship on Golf Channel. Although Southern States will no longer be an active tour in the junior golf space, the NB3 JGNC goal remains the same as Jason’s when the SSJC tour first began in 2016 which is to provide top-quality, family-oriented tournaments that allow players to learn, grow, and take their game to the next level.
New this season, all former SSJC events will now be under the NB3 JGNC umbrella which is now located at www.jgnc.org. All events can be found under the “Locals” tab under the Schedule dropdown. Your favorite events are back at some of the best courses in the southeast and all events will award top-qualifiers an invite into the 36-hole Regional Finals for the NB3 JGNC. There are no membership fees required and most events are priced starting at $149!
